(^▽^) The Old Acquaintance in a Foreign Land
For the past few days, the sprawling Lin Manor in Yangzhou had been holding an elaborate funeral for Lin Ruhai, the Lin Immortal Historian who had turned to ash.
The manor and its gates were draped in white. Mournful music played softly, and paper money fluttered through the air.
Inside the main hall of the front courtyard, which had been set up as a mourning hall, Lin Daiyu was dressed in mourning clothes. She, Tanchun, Zijuan, Xueyan, and the other women of the Lin Family who had come to pay their respects were weeping as if their hearts were breaking, their cries unending. From time to time, they also received friends and old acquaintances who came to mourn Lin Ruhai.
Annie had no part in any of that.
She hadn't known Lin Ruhai well, didn't like the oppressive, grief-stricken atmosphere filled with weeping, and had no patience for all the tedious formalities!
So, after enduring it for two days, she found an excuse, saying she needed to investigate some related matters, then slipped out of the grief-stricken Lin Manor by herself. She went wandering around outside and didn't even return that night.
And so?
Night had already fallen, but she was still flying wherever she pleased among the wilderness, mountains, and sea of clouds outside Yangzhou, enjoying the moonlight.
To avoid attracting attention, she had changed out of her distinctive, gorgeous red dress and headpieces, and put on a light-red Jiangnan silk training gown that was easier to move in.
The gown was made of fine, soft, high-grade brocade. Its color was bright yet understated, and its unusual fabric shimmered faintly like rippling water beneath the moonlight.
The gown's clean-cut design and fitted waist made her petite figure look even more delicate.
