"Let go! You think someone like you would miss me? Who are you trying to fool?!"
At last, after a great deal of effort, Shadow Witch Amoline managed to shove away the little rascal who was pretending to look pitiful and sobbing so hard that her nose was running, rubbing it all over her. All the while, her husband, Gregory, stood nearby, watching with a broad grin and refusing to lift a finger to help. Once Amoline was back on her feet, she naturally grabbed the little rascal by the ear and hauled her over to a small stone bench in the garden.
Amoline was actually very happy and relieved that her beloved daughter had suddenly come home to visit her. She really had missed and worried about her precious little girl.
However...
The way her daughter had just expressed her feelings had been far too enthusiastic for Amoline's liking. It had made her furious, and she absolutely hated it! Especially when she saw that, although the little rascal was sniffling, her large, cunning green eyes were full of mischief and smugness.
"Phew! My poor back..."
"Annie, stay away from me for now! You little rascal, you act one way to my face and another behind my back. I've seen right through you. Don't think you can fool me so easily!"
"Who knows what you've been saying about me behind my back?!"
Rubbing her aching back, Amoline stepped forward and jabbed a finger at the little rascal, who was putting on an innocent face. She pretended to be angry as she warned her.
She'd opened her arms to welcome her daughter without thinking, but who could have guessed things would turn out like this?
Of course Amoline had been delighted that her daughter still remembered her and had come
