Academy City could certainly be called a prosperous, beautiful, and peaceful modern semi-intelligent city. Over the past couple of days, the whole city had been relatively calm, with no particularly important incidents at all. At least, that was certainly the case for a certain little girl, as long as she could eat well and have fun.
That was because, unlike her meddlesome senior, Misaka Mikoto, she hadn't spent every day hanging around that Shirai Kuroko girl, investigating the utterly boring-sounding "Level Upper" incident with her!
She was just a little girl who loved to play and eat. She wasn't some meddlesome Savior. So she hadn't gotten too involved in the reckless stunt that left a certain girl named Saten Ruiko in a coma after she used the "Level Upper."
After all,
She and Saten Ruiko and Uiharu Kazari had only met a few times and barely knew each other. She wasn't very close to them. They were friends with Kuroko and Mikoto, but they weren't friends with Her Majesty, Queen Annie... Even though Annie got along very well with Kuroko and Mikoto now, that didn't mean anything.
Relationships between people were complicated. If you liked someone, you liked them; if you didn't, you didn't. You couldn't force it! There were so many people in this world. Some could become your friends, while others would forever remain acquaintances, and nothing more... Just like the saying went, "The enemy of your enemy isn't necessarily your enemy"; by the same logic, "your friend's friends" weren't necessarily her friends!
So, while those two went out and investigated the reason behind "Level Upper" around the clock, before school resumed its normal classes and activities, Annie continued to enjoy her comfortable, carefree days, spending all her time "strolling and snacking" through the streets of Academy City.
