Over the course of a day and a night, a small number of Paladins, some soldiers from Lordaeron's heavy infantry, the original Darrowshire militia, and mostly armed farmers worked tirelessly. With the remaining force of more than two thousand and a large number of volunteers, they finally managed to save their homes from the terrible wildfire by the following morning, keeping all of Darrowshire from being engulfed and burned to the ground...

Inevitably, however, Darrowshire was blanketed in gray. A thick layer of black ash coated every house, street, and stray object. Most of the soldiers and farmers who had worked outdoors were black from head to toe. Even Uther the Lightbringer, who had once cut a dashing figure in golden armor with a silver hammer in hand, now looked like a soot-blackened old man. The only thing that made him easy to recognize was the "eagle" on his shoulder armor, faintly golden amid the gray-black soot.

Although everyone in Darrowshire looked utterly bedraggled, they all felt an overwhelming sense of relief and ease. There was no doubt that they had won. They had defeated the Undead that had come surging
