Chen Feng learned the Basic Swordsmanship he had exchanged for, and the passive skill Basic Sword Technique (Beginner) immediately appeared in his combat skill list.

In an instant, the basic movements of swordplay—chopping, thrusting, and the like—surfaced in Chen Feng's mind.

Chen Feng now had only 2,008 points left. However, since Basic Sword Technique was a relatively low-level skill, upgrading it from beginner to intermediate only required 1,000 Reincarnation Points.

Without hesitation, Chen Feng upgraded Basic Swordsmanship to intermediate. Besides gaining a better understanding of basic sword moves, his strength increased by another five points.

One point of experience required 500 Reincarnation Points to gain, yet upgrading Basic Swordsmanship to intermediate had already increased his strength by ten points.

No wonder so many people came to the world of Legend of Mir to grind skills. Compared with skills in simpler, Normal Grade Worlds, the skills here were astonishingly powerful.

With that thought, Chen Feng spent another 500 merit points to buy Attack and Kill Sword Technique. As soon as beginner-level Attack and Kill Sword Technique appeared in his combat skills, Chen Feng's strength increased by ten points.

Upgrading it again would require 3,000 Reincarnation Points. Chen Feng had only 1,000 left, so he didn't upgrade it further.

After picking up two Warrior skills, Chen Feng turned his attention to skills from other classes. First was the Taoist Priest's Spiritual Power Tactic. With such a straightforward name, it was obviously one he couldn't pass up.

Sure enough, beginner-level Spiritual Power Tactic increased Chen Feng's spiritual power by five points. However, learning Poisoning Technique and the Mage's Temptation Light at the same time didn't increase any of his attributes.

Both skills relied entirely on spiritual power: the stronger the spiritual power, the greater their effects.

Poisoning Technique and Temptation Light each cost 500 merit points. With the Eight Desolations and Light Armor he had also exchanged for, Chen Feng used up all his merit points.

After resting well all morning, Chen Feng headed north again. By then, the Orc Army in Woma Forest had finished assembling and begun moving south.

However, ordinary Orcs had limited intelligence and couldn't form a disciplined army. The entire Orc force charged forward in a disorganized mass, giving Chen Feng an excellent opportunity.

Taking advantage of Lingbo Weibu's mobility, Chen Feng repeatedly charged into the Orc Army and cut down a swath of them, then slipped away before they could completely surround him.

If he could grab a corpse along the way, he did. If not, he simply abandoned it and focused on earning Reincarnation Points.

Although Chen Feng and other powerful Reincarnators constantly harassed the enemy and killed Orcs, their efforts were a drop in the ocean against the enormous Orc Army.

Three days later, the Orc Army had reached the northwest gate of Baqi City. It then split into groups, intending to surround the entire city.

Chen Feng had already made it back to the city safely. He was now at the merit exchange counter, rapidly turning his merit points into combat power.

By then, Chen Feng was covered in wounds. There were simply too many Orcs; if he lost focus for even a moment, they would surround him, and Lingbo Weibu wouldn't help much.

Fortunately, there hadn't been any powerful Orc Heroes around at the time, allowing Chen Feng to force his way out. Otherwise, he might have been worn down and killed in the Orc Army.

During another raid, however, the Eight Desolations in his hand had met a powerful Orc Hero. Chen Feng had barely managed to kill him, but his weapon had shattered while blocking the Orc Hero's attacks.

Still, the spoils had been gratifying. The head of an Orc Hero had earned Chen Feng a substantial amount of merit, which he used to exchange for Heavy Armor and a Zhanmadao.

He spent his remaining merit on the Taoist Priest's Healing Technique and the Mage's Resist Fire Ring. Finally, he also exchanged for two bottles of the secret potion, Sun Water.

When Chen Feng appeared on the city wall, his armor gleaming with green metallic light, a dark red cape draped behind him, and a long Zhanmadao in his hand, he immediately caused a stir.

The Reincarnators gazed enviously at Chen Feng's comparatively lavish gear, then looked at the cloth clothes they wore. One by one, they sighed at how people could make each other look so bad.

But that only lasted a moment, because the Orcs were about to attack.

Baqi City was square, but its walls were built at an angle. Its four gates faced northeast, northwest, southeast, and southwest.

A wide moat had been dug around the city, completely encircling it. The water was not only deep but also swift. Only the bridges aligned with the four gates could be crossed.

However, the Orcs weren't fools. Under the command of an Orc Commander stationed toward the rear of the army, Orc Warriors carried enormous tree trunks split in half toward the moat.

Woma Forest was full of trees that had grown for decades, even centuries. This time, nearly all of them had been cut down and used as bridges over the moat.

As soon as the bridges began to take shape, native Mages on the city wall launched their attacks. Fireballs and Inazuma rained down on the Orc Warriors carrying the logs.

Compared with the Warriors, however, Mages and Taoist Priests skilled in mana were far too few. Against the countless Orcs, their attacks were just a drop in the ocean.

Once the bridges were ready, a command rang out, and wave after wave of Orcs roared as they charged toward Baqi's walls.

Baqi City's walls were extremely high. The Orcs who charged forward began piling up at their base, forming a human ladder so that those behind could climb up little by little by stepping on their bodies.

Faced with the dense Orc Army, the Reincarnators, who had never seen anything like it, panicked. One of them shouted as a fireball suddenly condensed in his hand, then hurled it into the mass of Orcs.

The fireball struck an Orc near the top of the pile directly in the head. It let out a scream and fell, then vanished beneath the Orc Army and was trampled to death. But this did nothing to stop the other Orcs from pressing forward furiously.

That Reincarnator was clearly too weak. He had probably only just exchanged for Fireball Technique, but he had no mana attribute, and his spiritual attribute wasn't high enough either. After throwing one fireball, he turned pale and collapsed to the ground.

Several other Reincarnators rushed frantically toward a cauldron of oil that the natives had set up nearby, hoping to pour the boiling oil down. The soldiers guarding it instead gave them a sound beating.

If their officer hadn't stopped them, they might have killed the troublesome adventurers outright.

The officer in charge of the northwest wall knew that even he was secretly terrified by the sheer number of Orcs. The ordinary adventurers were bound to be even more frightened.

So he simply ordered the adventurers to stay away from the Baqi soldiers' defensive line to avoid disrupting their formation. He didn't order them killed; after all, even the adventurers who lacked strength could still kill one or two Orcs on their own.
