Background / History

Chen Feng was originally a timid, bullied high school senior whose original host had failed one Reincarnation World and received only an E-Class evaluation in another. After recovering knowledge from his previous life, he recognized the strategic value of the Reincarnation Sacred Hall and resolved to use its worlds, missions, and rewards to change his future. 1

His first major success came in the Simple Grade Fantasy Westward Journey world. He declined D-Class Reincarnator Xiu's team, completed the instance alone, and returned with an SSS-Class evaluation. The result brought him 20,000 Reincarnation Points, a special identity connected to Guanyin, a quest lock, and treasure rewards. 2 5

In Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils, Chen Feng solved the Zhenlong Chess Game after overcoming an illusion born from his greed for power and recognition. He received Wu Yazi's internal power, became the Xiaoyao Sect's leader through the Seven Treasures Ring, and learned Lingbo Weibu and Tianshan Six Yang Palm. 20 21

He later entered increasingly dangerous worlds to acquire power, resources, and medicines for his family. His actions in Legend of Mir developed his Northern Darkness Divine Skill through mana absorption, while his Master-difficulty completion of Chinese Paladin earned another SSS evaluation and left him an enemy of the Shushan Sword Sect. 33 35 76

Chen Feng's mother’s illness became a central motivation for his choices. He sought Spirit Medicine through Reincarnation Worlds, eventually curing her and restoring her health. 56 139

Appearance

Chen Feng is described as handsome, and he can use a Character Image Sculpting Card to alter his appearance before entering a world. His physique changes dramatically as his attributes increase. 3 6 119

  • Originally thin and physically weak. 1 119
  • Possesses a muscular build sufficient to distinguish himself from Duan Yu. 10
  • Often adopts alternate identities and appearances to conceal his connection to the Reincarnation Master. 115 119
  • In Fantasy Westward Journey, he is associated with white clothing and Mount Putuo magic. 154

Personality

Chen Feng is cautious, pragmatic, and strongly driven by self-improvement. He routinely assesses risk against reward, prioritizes Reincarnation Points and lasting strength over fame, and avoids revealing his advantages prematurely. 2 5 6

He is also adaptive in combat and willing to use deception, terrain, poison, restraints, and enemy weaknesses rather than relying solely on brute force. This pragmatism can make him ruthless against hostile opponents, particularly monsters and Reincarnators who threaten him. 29 33 36 174

Despite this, he is protective of his parents and friends. He repeatedly pursues cures for his mother, keeps promises to Feiyan Nü, saves Wind Scar and Zhang Fu, and risks himself to protect Qiao Feng and others. 6 21 57 125 139

Obsession with Power

The Zhenlong Chess Game exposed Chen Feng's desire for acclaim, power, wealth, and control. The illusion showed him abandoning even his parents for ambition; waking from it forced him to acknowledge this greed and become more self-aware. 20

Abilities & Skills

Northern Darkness Divine Skill / Northern Darkness True Qi

Chen Feng inherited seventy years of internal power from Wu Yazi. The technique can absorb true qi and other energies, converting them into his own strength. 21 27

  • Absorbs true qi from martial artists and mana from Orc Warriors. 23 33
  • Protects him from poison, including a giant spider's venom. 33
  • Sustains prolonged combat by replenishing his internal energy through absorption. 33 34
  • Enabled him to drain the Orc Hero's power and defeat it. 35

Carefree Travel

An evolved movement skill derived from Lingbo Weibu, retaining short-range evasive movement while adding long-distance travel and levitation. 51

  • Originally used Lingbo Weibu to evade attacks, intercept opponents, and rapidly reposition. 21 23
  • Upgraded Lingbo Weibu to Advanced during his battle with Orc forces. 34
  • Later developed into Carefree Travel, which provides levitation and travel capability. 51
  • Reached Advanced level by the time of his Chinese Paladin return. 76

Tianshan Six Yang Palm

A Xiaoyao Sect palm art taught by Wu Yazi and learned with Reincarnation Points. 21

  • Uses techniques such as “Sunset Melting Gold,” which stacks internal energy from both palms. 21
  • Can employ the group-defense technique “White Sun Appears in the Constellations.” 22
  • Initially lacked the experience to match Qiao Feng despite his immense internal-energy foundation. 21
  • Reached Advanced level by 76.

Dragon Catching Skill

A Grandmaster skill obtained from a treasure chest. 27

  • Forms a golden dragon-claw manifestation when powered by Buddha power. 108

  • Reached Advanced level, allowing high-speed short-distance flight. 177

Talismans and Daoist Arts

Through the Mount Fangcun legacy, Chen Feng gained a broad set of talisman-based control techniques. 159

  • Immobilization Talisman — seals movement and lowers resistance; sustained magical attacks can break it. 159
  • Mind Loss Talisman — seals magic and reduces mana. 159
  • Talisman of Despair — seals magic and reduces accuracy. 159
  • Soul Chasing Talisman — seals actions and reduces defense. 159
  • Soul Leaving Talisman — seals magic and reduces evasion. 159
  • Soul Lost Talisman — seals magic and reduces attack. 159
  • Armor Break Talisman — reduces defense and mana. 159
  • He can stack different talismans, but intelligent enemies may not permit the setup. 160

Chaos Body

An incomplete bloodline formed after the fusion of Chen Feng's three soul bodies. 137

  • Grants Chaos Domain, which returns energies within its range to their origin and disperses them. 137
  • Can neutralize energy-based abilities, including Duriel's Holy Freeze spiritual energy. 174
  • Its transformations carry a risk of soul collapse. 137
  • Requires higher Spirit Power to maintain stability. 225

Multiple Souls and Alternate Identities

Chen Feng's soul was divided into three, allowing him to maintain separate identities and powers. 93 115

  • Wuxiang represents Buddhist power. 218
  • Reincarnation Master represents Magic Power. 218
  • Xiaoyao represents Daoist power. 218
  • The three souls resisted and expelled an assassin attempting possession. 218
  • The division helped conceal his Reincarnation Master identity, but initially caused his body to collapse from imbalanced attributes. 93 115

Vajra Buddha Body

A defensive Buddhist-body technique. 108

  • Allowed Chen Feng to withstand a Daoist’s peach wood sword without moving. 108
  • Lets him heal injuries such as burns caused by incompatible Holy Light equipment. 159

Sleeve Universe

A Grandmaster storage and capture technique. 116

  • Stores items with immense energy. 116
  • Was used to absorb the Kirin during the Dark Martial Arts Tournament. 136

Instantaneous Movement

A Grandmaster movement skill acquired after Legend of Mir. 51

  • Used to evade Sword Hero’s attacks. 103
  • Enables sudden repositioning in battle, including against Stussy and Hisoka. 204 218
  • Repeated use causes intense strain, though increased Spirit improves his short-term usage limit. 174 204

Trivia

  • He received the special identity Sister Guanyin’s Fated One, improving his affinity with Guanyin in Journey to the West-related worlds. 6
  • His initial plan in Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils was to build a Bad Reputation because he considered it safer and easier than pursuing a good one. 10
