In the New World, on the Olama Nation, the Rocks Pirates were throwing a party on the island.
Many crew members were dead drunk.
Creak...
A pirate pushed open the door, stepped out of the tavern, and took a deep breath. He had drunk quite a lot tonight.
His head was already starting to spin.
So he decided to head to the seaside to let the sea breeze clear his mind.
High above, dark clouds gathered like a black cloth draped across the sky. Gale-force winds howled over the ocean, and waves crashed against the shore.
The pirate squinted into the distance. A faint glimmer seemed to flicker far away.
Boom!
Thunder roared across the sky, illuminating the pitch-black night for an instant.
"A ship?"
In that flash of lightning, the pirate thought he saw a massive vessel sailing across the sea.
But he had drunk a bit too much and couldn't be sure if he had really seen it.
Gusts of wind slammed into him, kicking up sand and dust all around, making his coat flap noisily.
The deep, pitch-black night stretched out like an abyss before him. Waves pounded the shore, and a splash of seawater landed on the pirate's body.
Boom!
Another bolt of lightning struck down from the sky, briefly lighting up the distant ocean.
"Navy!"
This time, the pirate wasn't mistaken. The ship sailing along the coast was unmistakably a Navy vessel.
"Damn it, how did they find out we're here?"
Frowning, the pirate quickly turned and ran deeper into Olama.
He rushed straight to the tavern where the officers were drinking.
Creak...
He shoved open the door to the officers' tavern.
"Hm?"
Whitebeard turned his head and saw a regular crew member pushing open their tavern door.
"Drunk and wandered into the wrong place?" Charlotte Linlin asked, a hint of killing intent flashing in her eyes.
They, the officers, were in the middle of drinking. How dare a mere regular crew member disturb them?
"Is something the matter?" Patri Vic asked calmly, downing a bottle of fine liquor.
"I... I..."
The Rocks Pirate, suddenly faced with so many of the ship's top fighters, stammered in fear. The terrifying pressure radiating from the officers inside the room was like that of primordial beasts.
Even meeting their eyes made him tremble uncontrollably.
For a moment, he couldn't even form a coherent sentence.
"You little brat, are you deliberately trying to bother us?" Golden Lion asked, a cigar dangling from his mouth, his tone harsh and raspy.
"Just say what you have to say."
Rocks spoke calmly, glancing at him indifferently.
Rocks could tell from the pirate's expression that he had something to say.
He would let the man speak first. If it turned out to be something trivial, then there would be no need for this pirate to keep living.
"The... the Navy is here!" Though terrified, the pirate forced out the words in a trembling voice.
He had a feeling that if he didn't speak up soon, the officers in the tavern would kill him on the spot.
"What did you say?" Golden Lion shot to his feet.
"Are you sure you saw the Navy?" Charlotte Linlin demanded coldly.
"I... I saw them, it's absolutely true. The... the Navy warships are coming." The pirate swallowed hard and quickly replied.
Boom!
As if to confirm the pirate's words, a cannonball landed precisely outside their tavern, erupting with a deafening blast.
The door was blown clean off.
And that pirate was blasted into a bloody mess.
"Damn it, how did the Navy find out we're here?"
Veins bulging on his forehead, Rocks crushed the bottle in his hand.
If the Navy was prepared to surround and wipe them out, they would have had to gather intelligence on their whereabouts first.
But they had only arrived at the Olama Nation around noon.
Even if the Navy got word the moment they reached Olama, there was no way they could have gotten here this fast.
This country was in the heart of the New World's chaotic zone—the nearest Navy base was a full day and night away.
How could the Navy have arrived so quickly?
The same thought surfaced in every officer's mind.
"There's a traitor feeding them our information." Patri Vic frowned, his voice low.
There was no other explanation.
"Damn traitor, selling us out!" Golden Lion bit down on his cigar, his face twisted with rage as he scanned the assembled officers.
That traitor was undoubtedly among them. As for who, Golden Lion had no idea.
"If I find out who the rat is, I'll rip out their soul and torment them for eternity." Charlotte Linlin swept her gaze across the officers with cold severity.
Though the Rocks Pirates' officers each did their own thing and held grudges against one another—
Even when facing a powerful Navy or pirate crew, they didn't fight seriously, preferring to slack off.
But without exception, everyone hated betrayal!
No one knew how much preparation the Navy had put into this ambush.
No one knew if they'd survive this battle.
Among the crowd of officers, Ochoku's forehead beaded with cold sweat, his expression betraying a hint of panic.
Because he knew—if these officers found out he was the traitor, he was as good as dead.
"Boom!"
Another cannonball crashed into the center of their tavern, exploding and kicking up a cloud of smoke and dust. When the smoke cleared—
It was clear the shell hadn't hurt anyone.
"Wake all the brothers. Time to fight."
Rocks stared out at the pitch-black, churning sea and spoke in a low voice.
Out on the water, fifteen Navy warships had closed in. A standard Buster Call used ten; this time, five more had been added for maximum destructive power.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!!!"
"Fwoosh! Fwoosh! Fwoosh!!!"
The fifteen warships were firing devastating shells nonstop.
These shells were different from ordinary ones—roughly twice as powerful.
The Olama Nation had become a living hell. Lightning flashed across the sky, and countless black shells rained down like scythes of death.
They slaughtered large numbers of Rocks Pirates members, and countless innocent civilians of Olama fell alongside them.
Aboard the Navy flagship, Kong frowned as he watched the faint glow of the Olama Nation. His heart ached.
After all, this operation to wipe out the Rocks Pirates came at the cost of many innocent lives.
He stared for a long time, then finally closed his eyes, pinning the deaths of those civilians on the Rocks Pirates.
Because it was the Rocks Pirates' presence here that forced them to fire those shells and kill those innocent people.
"Kong, no need for guilt. Crush the Rocks Pirates, and we'll be the heroes of the New World. No one will care about the fate of one country's people." The Fleet Admiral stood with his arms crossed, his expression cold.
Yes. This was all for the sake of annihilating the Rocks Pirates. As long as they were destroyed, everything was worth it.
What did a few innocent deaths matter? Weren't there plenty of countries destroyed by pirates on these seas over the years?
