After seeing Ye Wen sitting steadily in his chair, no one present had any further complaints.

City Lord Qiao coughed twice and told everyone how Ye Wen had single-handedly killed a hundred Devil Wolves and rescued Tingting.

City Lord Qiao immediately spoke up.

"We were just discussing this. I plan to send a few people to investigate the Demon Race's latest movements. However, there are too many Demon Race species involved now. They have garrisons around the city, making it difficult to infiltrate. Moreover, the demons stationed on the outskirts certainly wouldn't know the decisions of the greater demons."

Only then did Ye Wen understand the predicament City Lord Qiao was facing.

Ordinary soldiers wouldn't be able to get in, thus unable to gather information. But sending Xiantian Masters, the highest among them being only Third Rank, would essentially be walking into a trap.

Saying this, Ye Wen stood up and walked towards the main door. As he passed Tingting, she tugged at his sleeve and whispered to him.

Ye Wen looked at Tingting, smiled, and nodded. Then he walked out of the council hall. Qiao Lao San followed closely behind and said to Ye Wen.

"My elder brother has two good horses; they're practically ranked demon beasts. Their other abilities aren't great, but their speed and stamina are decent. Follow me, one horse each, and we'll be back soon!"

Ye Wen's current speed didn't really require a mount, but to accommodate Qiao Lao San, he agreed to ride out with him.

After more than two hours of full-speed travel, the two arrived at a village near Xingyu Demon Suppressing City. At a glance, the village was already deserted. Occasionally, a few scattered Demon Beasts roamed nearby.

Ye Wen then said to Qiao Lao San.

"Find a place to hide around here later. I'll go in to scout. If we ride in on horses now, we'll be too conspicuous and easily exposed. I'll come back and tell you as soon as I get any information."

Qiao Lao San nodded heavily and assured Ye Wen.

"Little Brother Ye, you can go in with peace of mind. Don't worry about me. I, Qiao Lao San, may not have many skills, but I have plenty of ways to survive!"

Ye Wen gave Qiao Lao San a noncommittal glance. He suddenly wondered if this man was genuinely foolish or possessed great wisdom disguised as foolishness. Was he deliberately acting in the city to provoke Ye Wen into investigating?

Never mind, Ye Wen quickly left, flashing towards the city. After Ye Wen departed, Qiao Lao San also found a place to hide the horses and muttered to himself.

"The chaotic times have arrived. If we rough fellows die, we die. I must find a good reliance for Tingting. If this Ye Wen can reach Seventh Rank, he won't disgrace Tingting."

Ye Wen infiltrated the city and saw the once-familiar streets, now utterly destroyed. These beasts, didn't they know how to cherish public property?

Ye Wen discovered that if a Demon Beast's ancestors included Divine Beasts or Sacred Beasts, their offspring tended to awaken their intelligence earlier. Any Demon Beast that had awakened its intelligence had an intellect comparable to humans.
