In May, New York's weather had already grown hot enough to make people irritable.
Fortunately, a short holiday had finally come to Feeney's rescue, letting him stay home in peace, sipping Ice Cola in the air conditioning. It was pure bliss.
Even as he enjoyed the comfort, though, he hadn't let up on his training. He still went to Kamar-Taj every day without fail to practice, while working on his other skills as well.
Especially his Explosion Magic. After all this time spent training hard, he had become adept at controlling its power and choosing where the blast hit. He could easily work as a demolition expert now—and wouldn't even need tools or explosives.
It was proof that he actually had a solid talent for magic. It just wasn't suited to Kamar-Taj's teachings.
At dusk, after darkness had fallen, Feeney opened a portal and arrived at Kamar-Taj.
Kamar-Taj's mornings were still cool, untouched by the full heat of summer. A gentle breeze brushed his face, putting him in a particularly good mood. Of course, it would have been even better if he could also chase away the fellow standing in front of him.
"What is it?"
Looking at Kassilius, Feeney asked in an even tone.
"Kaze Sorcerer asked me to get a few fried chicken rolls from you."
Kassilius spoke with the same expressionless face.
After nearly half a year at Kamar-Taj, Kassilius had finally stopped acting like he wanted nothing to do with anyone. His daily training had led him to make a few friends, though his proud, aloof nature meant he didn't have many.
Feeney frowned at Kassilius. He was sure Kassilius could sense how unwelcome he was, yet he had still come over. Was there something suspicious going on?
