Another Transformation?

Clearly, Lin Yun's "terrible" acting had made the bandits think he was an adventuring knight from out of town. He'd seen them "tormenting" a living creature and couldn't stand by, so he wanted to save it.

Unfortunately... his acting was too crude.

With two enormous axes on his back, he might not have a horse, but he certainly didn't look like the sort of man who'd be interested in noble young ladies.

After all, weren't men like him usually into women with fists you could balance a person on, arms strong enough to race a horse, and chests that could crush a man to death?

Of course, the most important thing was how little Lin Yun seemed to care about money.

Anyone who didn't care about money couldn't possibly be acting just to cozy up to some noble young lady. People who didn't care about money were either nobles or merchants. Even the priests of the Sigmar Church cared about money. In fact, in the bandits' experience, apart from noble lords and wealthy merchants, everyone cared about money.

Of course, in reality, noble lords and wealthy merchants cared about money even more—or, more precisely, about profit.

And most importantly, Lin Yun had those two enormous axes on his back. Normal nobles and merchants wouldn't carry something that big around.

Unless they were putting on a show...

As it happened, in the bandits' eyes, adventuring knights were all about putting on a show. Add in the fact that Lin Yun looked like a noble, was good at fighting, and had "terrible" acting, and the case was closed: he was from across the mountains.

But since they knew Lin Yun was a knight of Batonia, and an adventuring knight who was theoretically second only to a Grail Knight, why would they dare
