Though he was already staggering, the Unclean One had at least managed to hang on. The wounds on his body began healing as quickly as they could.
Before long... Lin Yun noticed that the creature wasn't staggering as much anymore...
Had it healed back above 0 HP?
A helpless smile tugged at Lin Yun's lips.
If so, then that was really damn annoying. It was another way to play the survival game: use a race with innate regeneration, then pair it with a class ability that could heal or regenerate, or simply with healing abilities. That made this whole "locking your HP" trick even more complicated.
It didn't look like much, just like beating on a punching bag, but sometimes all it took was that one little bit of extra endurance.
And if it entered a dying state, Lin Yun could execute it at any time. Even without an execution, hitting it would automatically count as a critical hit and trigger a death save.
But now, Lin Yun could only keep fighting normally.
Then... his resources would keep dwindling, and... if Lin Yun's Constitution Saving Throw weren't so high, then once he was poisoned or afflicted by some disease, he really would be left with nothing to do but "wait to die."
Fortunately, Lin Yun could just barely hold out.
The Unclean One had regenerated back to normal and was no longer staggering, so it used the same ability it had just used.
The green sea of acid formed from the Nurgle Followers who had died completely began to rise again.
This time, though, Lin Yun had no martial technique with which to counterattack.
But...
D20+6+5+4+4+2+1=37, save success.
Lin Yun could force his way through the save.
He waited until the waves, which seemed to represent death itself,
