After closing his eyes and quickly choosing one of his mythic upgrades, Lin Yun opened them again.

It was about time. Holding the Oak Axe, Lin Yun walked out of Spirit Tree Hall and into the plaza outside.

The reason was simple: the enemy had already arrived.

They were a motley group of bizarre-looking creatures. To be clear, these humanoid creatures looked rather grotesque, but... somehow, they reminded him of the Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals.

Though, if they really were the Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals from the legends of the Celestial Empire, they would probably count as mythological creatures.

Most of these bizarre humanoids resembled animals. Some looked like chickens, but had sharp teeth. Others looked like centipedes or frogs. A few even had a single enormous eye for a head.

They were all clad in armor—magical armor, no less—and each carried a different weapon.

They were all apostles. Most of them were only Tier 1, but they were still formidable. Even Guts, before, would have had to give it everything he had to fight them.

Strictly speaking, the apostles they had encountered before were wild, whereas these had been mass-produced.

Of course, no matter how many of these apostles Lin Yun and the others killed, it wouldn't count as a "trial," so they wouldn't be able to advance a tier.

So grinding tiers here was out of the question. They could still grind experience, of course, but at level 16, the amount they needed was practically an ocean.

Lin Yun casually swung the Oak Axe in his hand.
