Background and History

Evil Eye served another Evil Spirit warrior, Black Bug, before joining Di Nian. It died alongside that commander, returned to its Divine Eye mother, and was revived and assigned to Di Nian in Monster World 123 344. As Di Nian’s advisor, it drew on information shared by other Black Tide nodes while helping him command troops against players and insectoids 72 123 173.

Their partnership departed from the Black Tide’s usual arrangement. Auxiliary eyes were meant to support and supervise Evil Spirit commanders, but Evil Eye sided with Di Nian even when doing so meant deceiving higher-level units to benefit him 142. It later developed a teleportation-array plan intended to draw players into other Black Tide nodes and create demand for Di Nian’s paid command services. Evil Eye perfected a projection array made with non-Black Tide materials after repeated attempts 263 273.

During the battle against the Temple Guardian, Evil Eye sacrificed itself. Di Nian refused a replacement and invoked Overreach to request its revival 341 344. Evil Eye returned through the Evil Moon and immediately took over repairs to their damaged High Tower 345. After Di Nian’s ascension, the two faced the Demon Gods’ judgment together and were unexpectedly resurrected; their renewed symbiotic bond enabled a fusion form 735 736 737.

Appearance

Evil Eye is a massive floating eye with tentacles that connect it to Di Nian or a High Tower 72 123 345.

Personality

Evil Eye usually analyzes situations calmly, including moments when Di Nian is angry or under pressure 110 339. Unlike the nearly emotionless auxiliary eyes described as standard Black Tide support units, it develops an emotional side and treats Di Nian as more than a commander to be supervised 142.

It also enjoys teasing him. Evil Eye adopts player slang, delivers deliberately excessive praise, and sometimes follows a joke so literally that Di Nian finds it exasperating 263 345 549. Its loyalty persists through their shared deaths and revivals 341 736.
