Background / History

Snow Empress was born in the Extremely Northern Land and became its undisputed ruler. She and Ice Empress had lived there for countless years, developing an intimate knowledge of the terrain. They had not appeared elsewhere on Douluo Continent for several centuries, and very few human Soul Masters knew their identities 100 103 110.

Several decades before meeting Ling Feng, she investigated Mist Forest after it appeared overnight without warning. Initially, the forest seemed ordinary and housed numerous soul beasts. After the Space Demon Insect appeared, it devoured nearly all of those inhabitants, turning the forest into forbidden ground for soul beasts 118.

When the insect began slaughtering powerful soul beasts, including several hundred-thousand-year beasts, Snow Empress attempted to stop it. She pursued it for ten years, but its concealment and spatial abilities repeatedly prevented her from locating its hiding place 103.

Appearance

  • Hair: Long, white, waterfall-like hair described as soft and smooth as silk 103.
  • Eyes: Deep, ice-lake-like eyes conveying coldness and majesty 103.
  • Clothing: A long, snow-white dress 103 136.
  • Complexion: Crystalline, flawless skin likened to ice and snow 109.
  • Bearing: Exceptionally beautiful, noble, and naturally aloof; she retains this demeanor even after the Space Demon Insect’s defeat 103 117.

Personality

Snow Empress places the protection of her territory above her own safety. She enters Mist Forest despite Ice Empress’s warnings, considers safeguarding its soul beasts her responsibility, and orders expanded patrols when powerful human intruders become a potential threat 104 105.

Her distrust of humans comes from witnessing Soul Masters kill soul beasts for rings and bones. Nevertheless, she is pragmatic rather than inflexible: when the Space Demon Insect’s growth makes independent resistance untenable, she accepts Ling Feng’s help despite Ice Empress’s objections 112 113.

Her attitude toward Ling Feng combines respect, gratitude, and unease. His strength helps protect her homeland, but also raises the possibility that she could not stop him if he turned against it. His divine favor further reminds her of the Soul Beast Clan’s inability to become gods and her own powerlessness to change that situation 115 116 118 134.

Abilities & Skills

Ice and Snow Manipulation

Snow Empress wields powerful ice-elemental abilities, with her arrival alone causing a sharp temperature drop that forces Ling Feng to protect himself with Soul Power 110.

  • Can unleash an ice-and-snow storm with a casual gesture 100.
  • Condenses ice and snow into numerous sharp blades during the ambush on the Space Demon Insect 114.
  • Uses ice-elemental force to attack the disguised spatial barriers in Mist Forest 119.

Emperor Palm — Great Cold Without Snow

A palm technique that gathers extreme cold through the surrounding power of heaven and earth, producing a gigantic, deep-blue palm imprint 133.

  • Rapidly lowers the surrounding temperature and condenses airborne moisture into icy mist 133.
  • Used against the Abyssal Sage King’s manifestation, but only weakens a layer of his barrier; energy from the Space Rift restores it almost immediately 133.

Environmental Advantage

Her familiarity with the Extremely Northern Land allows her to exploit its harsh conditions and draw on its natural power 100 119.

  • On home ground, her strength is comparable to that of a Limit Douluo 100.
  • Together with Ice Empress, she can deny an ordinary Limit Douluo an advantage in their native environment 100.
  • This advantage is not absolute: after Zhao Yun reveals his strength, she believes she may still be unable to defeat him 110.

Spiritual Perception

Snow Empress keeps the core of her territory under close spiritual observation and can identify residual Soul Power, strange spatial fluctuations, and divine auras 103 104 118.

  • Detects the disturbance left by Ling Feng and Zhao Yun’s first battle in Mist Forest from her palace 103.
  • Determines that two humans fought there and recognizes that one left an aura potentially stronger than her own 104.
  • Warns the ambush party when the Space Demon Insect approaches 114.
  • Recognizes the extraordinary nature of Ling Feng’s God-level Soul Bone and later concludes that he has received a god’s favor 116 118.
  • Limits: Mist Forest blocks her senses, and the insect’s concealment repeatedly defeats her attempts to track it 103 119.

Defensive Barriers

Snow Empress and Ice Empress jointly raise a crystalline barrier of ice and snow to contain the shockwaves from Zhao Yun’s battle with the Abyssal Sage King 134.

  • Draws on the power of heaven and earth in the Extremely Northern Land 134.
  • Requires reinforcement from Ling Feng’s Space Barrier to stop the battle’s energy from spreading completely 134.

Bloodline

Her bloodline belongs to the highest tier among Douluo Continent’s soul beasts 130.

  • Despite this, the mysterious divine blood used during the Space Rift repair suppresses both her and Ice Empress’s strength by fifty percent 130.

Relationships

  • Ice Empress — Close ally and fellow guardian of the Extremely Northern Land. Ice Empress accompanies her into danger, implements her patrol orders, and ultimately supports her decision to cooperate with humans 104 105 113.
  • Ling Feng — Initially treated as a threatening intruder; becomes a conditional ally against the Space Demon Insect and the Abyss Plane crisis. Her lingering caution develops into sincere gratitude when he helps shield the northern soul beasts from battle damage 110 112 117 134.
  • Zhao Yun — Human ally whose overwhelming strength initially alarms her. She later fights alongside him and watches his confrontation with the Abyssal Sage King 110 114 133 135.
  • Snow Phoenix — An injured northern soul beast she sincerely asks to serve as bait. Its wounds from the Space Demon Insect strengthen her resolve to eliminate the predator 113.
  • Space Demon Insect — Long-standing enemy responsible for devouring her territory’s soul beasts. Its evasiveness and rapid growth force her to seek outside assistance 103 112.
  • Abyssal Sage King — Invading enemy whose manifestation she attacks during the attempt to repair the Space Rift 132 133.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Investigation and Territorial Defense

  • Senses the aftermath of Ling Feng and Zhao Yun’s first encounter with the Space Demon Insect and leaves seclusion to investigate 103.
  • Searches Mist Forest with Ice Empress, discovers evidence of human combatants, and fails to locate the insect 104.
  • Orders full-scale patrols, then returns to cultivation in hopes of strengthening herself 105.
  • Intercepts Ling Feng and Zhao Yun when the patrol network detects their return 109.

Alliance Against the Space Demon Insect

  • Initially demands that the humans explain their purpose. Ling Feng identifies the insect as his intended Ninth Soul Ring and proposes cooperation 110.
  • Agrees after learning that the predator has reached two hundred thousand years of cultivation 112.
  • Rejects Ice Rhinoceroses as unsuitable bait because of their slow movement and violent temperament, and an Ice Bear because its bloodline is insufficiently powerful. She secures a wounded Snow Phoenix’s voluntary help instead 113.
  • Helps plan and launch the ambush, then remains ready to intervene while Ling Feng fights the insect alone 114 115.
  • Congratulates him after its destruction, while warning him not to harm the Extremely Northern Land 117.

Space Rift and Abyss Plane Crisis

  • Supplies the history of Mist Forest’s sudden appearance and helps investigate the insect’s origins 118 119.
  • Identifies an artificially disguised stretch of space that she cannot break even at full strength. The group’s investigation exposes the Space Rift 119 120.
  • Supports efforts to resolve the tunnel’s threat. When initial attempts fail, she and Ice Empress decide to search other Soul Beast Forests for information 121 122.
  • Rejoins the repair effort and responds to Ling Feng’s warning that someone is observing them 129 131.
  • Attacks the Abyssal Sage King’s manifestation, then shifts to protecting the surrounding soul beasts from the resulting battle 133 134.
  • After the confrontation, she and Ice Empress remain awed by Ling Feng and Zhao Yun’s strength. She later checks the surroundings and departs with Ice Empress 135 136.
