A moment later, Luo Mo landed and looked toward the old man in gray.
"Old Zhao, you know, I've been thinking. This place is pretty small, and the ceiling's so low. If I flew up high enough, I could probably reach the roof in a flash. Why don't you just send me straight up there?"
Zhao Wuji: "..."
Everyone present was stunned.
Wasn't that just an excuse to get Zhao Wuji to send him flying?
And he'd asked with such confidence.
They all wanted to give Luo Mo a good smack.
In the end, he still scratched his head and said, "Well, I do want you to send me flying. But the fourth rule forbids flight, and I didn't make that rule. It's not like I've explained everything clearly to you, either. After all, you know that Soul Masters with flying-type soul bones are rare, and there are flying Soul Skills, too."
Everyone: "..."
Zhao Wuji had added another rule just now. Xiao Wu and Ning Rongrong nodded along, and even the others had to admit that Zhao Wuji had a point.
Still, Luo Mo didn't care. He shrugged and said to the others, "All right, then. Let's start over."
He already knew there was no point arguing.
But he didn't mind taking a jab at them, either. It was worth it.
Luo Mo looked at Dai Mubai and asked about Zhao Wuji's abilities.
He understood, but it was inconvenient to reveal too much. The others also needed a basic understanding of Zhao Wuji's abilities.
Dai Mubai thought for a moment, then said, "Old Zhao's martial soul is the Vigorous Vajra Bear. He's a level seventy-six Soul Sage, with two yellow, two purple, and three black soul rings. His defense and strength are both terrifying. His weakness is speed, but his high cultivation means he's still faster than you."
Tang San and the others listened carefully, their expressions growing solemn.
A level seventy-six Soul Sage?
His defense, strength, and speed all surpassed theirs. It seemed he had no weaknesses.
How were they supposed to beat him?
Dai Mubai continued, "Old Zhao is the vice dean of the academy. In terms of strength, he's second only to the dean. Although he isn't as famous as the Unrivaled Dragon Serpent, he's still your teacher. Even with me added to the team, I can't help you much."
He glanced at Xiao Wu and said, "Don't underestimate his soul skills. If you're careless, he could send you flying."
"Don't worry. I have a plan." Xiao Wu clenched her fist.
Ning Rongrong looked at Xiao Wu, then seemed to realize what she was thinking. She suddenly cried out, "You mean Old Zhao, the Unrivaled Dragon Serpent? I heard that ten years ago he committed a serious crime at the Spirit Hall and was forced to flee. I never thought he'd be hiding at Shrek Academy as a teacher."
Zhao Wuji: "..."
Wouldn't the girl get herself in trouble for saying that?
Back then, he'd fought his way through a group of eighteen Soul Masters and killed many of them.
And at that time, he'd already been a Soul Emperor.
Dai Mubai pulled everyone back to the discussion. "First, tell us your names and abilities. Then we'll work out how to coordinate and hold off Old Zhao's attack for the time being."
The five of them exchanged glances. Ning Rongrong spoke first.
"I'm Tang San. My martial soul is the Blue Silver Grass. I'm a level twenty-nine control-type Soul Master."
Tang San spoke up first, wanting to take the initiative.
"I'm Xiao Wu. My martial soul is a rabbit. I'm a level twenty-nine agility-attack-type Soul Master."
Xiao Wu wasn't an assault-type Soul Master anymore; she was an agility-attack type.
"I'm Oscar. My martial soul is the Sausage. I'm a level twenty-nine auxiliary-type Soul Master."
Without being prompted, Oscar had already taken the role of the auxiliary-type Soul Master. His abilities were fairly well-rounded, but he himself didn't like fighting. It would be enough if he could help out from the rear.
Tang San and Xiao Wu exchanged a glance, then turned to Ning Rongrong.
You call yourself an auxiliary Soul Master?
Ning Rongrong coughed lightly and said, "I'm Ning Rongrong. My martial soul is the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda. I'm a level twenty-nine auxiliary-type Soul Master."
"Zhu Zhuqing. My martial soul is the Netherworld Civet. I'm a level twenty-nine agility-attack-type Soul Master."
Zhu Zhuqing's voice was cool and distant.
But when Dai Mubai heard her voice, his expression changed.
Hadn't she never married?
He'd never expected to see her here.
What was going on with their martial soul fusion ability?
He was so flustered that he didn't know where to look or what to say. But they were in the middle of a test, and it wasn't a good time to make a scene. In the end, he could only stand to the side and watch.
Tang San, however, was more concerned about Ning Rongrong. "Your martial soul is the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda, so... you're from the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Clan?"
"That's right. But the most important thing now is the test."
Ning Rongrong didn't deny it. At the same time, she introduced her abilities. "My first two soul rings are both a thousand years old. The abilities of my second soul ring are especially powerful. They can boost speed and strength by around thirty percent."
A top-tier support-type martial soul had put everyone slightly at ease.
Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing both looked toward Oscar, wanting to hear about his support abilities as well.
"Look at me. I've got flowers, haven't I?"
Oscar gave a guilty laugh. Tang San could tell that his big brother didn't want to reveal his abilities, so he said, "I'll arrange the teams. Ning Rongrong will support me. I'll face Old Zhao head-on. Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing will handle the flanks."
Xiao Wu gave Oscar a look of disdain. She clearly didn't agree with the arrangement.
Zhu Zhuqing looked at Tang San for a long time, her expression dark.
She didn't know why, but she found Tang San very unpleasant to look at. Or perhaps she was unhappy that Dai Mubai had gotten so close to Tang San.
In any case, Li Yusong's presence seemed to have had an effect.
Luo Mo noticed Zhu Zhuqing's martial soul fusion ability and looked at Tang San. Zhu Zhuqing was Xiao Wu's rival in love, so she'd naturally be unhappy with the person who'd helped her rival.
Likewise, Tang San also had rivals in Xiao Wu, Dugu Yan, and Oscar.
Resentment was a strange thing. Usually, when someone disliked another person, they wouldn't show it. And as time went by, that resentment might fade away—or grow stronger.
The bigger the grudge, the stronger the resentment.
A minor conflict usually didn't leave much of an impact. A major one, though, could make someone's heart twist with hatred—and they might not stop until they were dead.
"I'll make the arrangements. But what's Luo Mo doing?"
Ning Rongrong glanced at Tang San, who hadn't arranged anything for Oscar.
"Don't worry. When the time comes, I'll give Old Zhao a surprise." Oscar's eyes flashed with confidence.
Ning Rongrong saw that expression and immediately understood that Oscar was up to something.
So she stopped asking.
Tang San and Xiao Wu were familiar with Oscar and guessed that he was planning something clever.
Dai Mubai was curious about what kind of trick Oscar would pull, but he didn't have any particular hopes. After all, Zhao Wuji was a Soul Sage.
Zhu Zhuqing watched with a thoughtful expression.
"Have you decided?"
The voice came from Zhao Wuji. Everyone turned to look at him, and saw that the incense stick on the ground had burned down to the base.
"Old Zhao, we're ready."
Dai Mubai glanced at Zhao Wuji, then quickly stepped to the side.
Zhao Wuji slowly rose to his feet and cracked his knuckles. He lit another incense stick, and before it had even landed in its holder, Ning Rongrong had already taken the lead. She called out, "First soul skill—"
But Oscar was even faster—
