The same was true of that player. The illusion he had originally controlled somehow went wrong this time. He didn't notice that he seemed to be under some kind of influence, and still thought his men were killing Dak's troops.
He didn't realize what was happening until Dak charged right up to him.
By then, it was too late. Though the player was level 5 and had illusions powerful enough to frighten his enemies, he was killed by one of Liu Zhi's legion heroes.
Dak had no idea who the player was or what status he held. After killing him, Dak did nothing else. He simply carried the player's head back to the position he had been guarding.
And throughout that day, incidents like this happened many times along Liu Zhi's border.
Liu Zhi's people didn't win every fight, but their presence successfully kept the enemy outside the Ghost Domain. Not a single player made it inside.
At the same time, Liu Zhi granted the heroes guarding each passageway the authority to command the idle spider forces nearby.
Otherwise, after just these few battles, the troops under those heroes would have been nearly exhausted. They wouldn't have been able to hold out in the battles to come.
This war of attrition continued for a full day and night.
