The wolf pack in the jungle had no idea what was happening. After their recent battle with the boars, they had retreated to their den, ready to get some rest.

Having just fought, even the strongest among them, the Wolf King, failed to notice anything strange in the air.

But as the moon rose, the Wolf King began to sense something was wrong. He had been lying at the deepest part of the den, but suddenly sat up. His eyes turned red, as if he had sensed something amiss.

But even if the Wolf King knew something was wrong, it was already too late. The moment he opened his mouth, a mixture of gray and green liquid began dripping from it. As soon as the liquid hit the ground, it evaporated.

The Wolf King felt his body growing stiff, his movements no longer as nimble as before. Every time he moved, he heard his bones grinding against one another.

The sensation was unbearable. He tried to call the whole pack to their feet, but it was no use. All he could manage was a series of hoarse growls.

As the Wolf King rose, the nearby wolves seemed to be affected as well. They all got up, moving just like him, their eyes red and the same mixture of green and gray liquid dripping from their mouths.

They looked as if they had lost all awareness, simply following the Wolf King and wandering aimlessly.

If Liu Zhi had been there to see what was happening, he would have recognized it as zombification.

But the zombification before him wasn't yet complete. Even a being of the Wolf King's caliber still had a little awareness and was trying to struggle free.

At the same time, the Eternal Mist had yet to take shape.
