"This is a map of the Godforsaken Sea Area. Of course, this is only the latest version we've managed to put together. Some places change from time to time, so there's no way to record them. And some places are death traps—once you enter, you die, and there are no clues to be found."
After Liu Zhi found a place to sit, the owner brought over a stack of sheets that looked like cowhide and pointed them out one by one.
These were the sea charts the owner had mentioned. The things drawn on them weren't incomprehensible at all; they'd been made by professional cartographers. Each chart showed only about half the area, with the rest covered in different colors.
"These are the charts of the Godforsaken Sea Area. You'll have to get used to them, because that's just how the Godforsaken Sea Area works. Once you've sailed halfway through, the terrain changes on its own. The part shown on this chart is accurate.
"But once you sail into an area marked with a different color, you'll have to pull out the chart marked with that color and check which sea you've moved into."
Liu Zhi couldn't help but pause at that. Then he quickly flipped through the charts.
He noticed that there were more than thirty different colors. Many of them were hard to tell apart. For instance, he'd have to look closely to distinguish water red from pink.
Each color had its own corresponding charts, with more than a dozen for each. There were also charts that connected to one another.
So all told, there were tens of thousands of possible combinations.
No wonder they'd needed so much cowhide to draw them all.
"That's not even everything. See the black sections? You die as soon as you enter.
