Under Surveillance

That meant no one could tell whether they had real legs beneath their skirts or something like snake or fish tails.

Having spent so much time around Videnina, Liu Zhi was familiar with the way Naga moved. He could tell that although the two women were trying hard to pass as human, their gait gave them away.

After a moment's thought, Liu Zhi glanced around, changed direction, and headed out of the city.

By then, there was hardly any distinction between London's inner city and its outskirts. The city no longer had walls, and makeshift houses sprawled all around it in utter disorder.

Only a few main roads were kept clear. They had been left open for the nobles who preferred not to live in the city.
