At the large pit Liu Zhi and the others had dug, the two young men who had run over had already jumped down.
They had received instructions from the old man earlier: check what was inside the pit. If this really was the treasure Liu Zhi was looking for, there was no reason for there to be only one small shield.
There had to be something else down there.
Liu Zhi could take the shield, which looked like some kind of antique. But what if there were other treasures, like gold? They couldn't just let Liu Zhi take those away.
This little island was their treasure trove. Everything on it belonged to them.
With the old man keeping Liu Zhi occupied, they had to find whatever might be treasure as quickly as possible.
The two young men reached the pit and began digging at once. Unlike the sailors Liu Zhi had brought along, their bodies hadn't undergone any modifications. They relied entirely on their own strength to dig.
Still, they dug down with ease. They didn't clear away the soil they dug up, just piled it to one side and kept digging.
This would make the work harder later, but the two of them didn't seem to care.
They soon dug up a bottle. One of the young men picked it up and saw a ship in a bottle—a sailboat of the old-fashioned kind.
The young man holding the bottle was startled. He quickly threw it away.
"Damn, it's a ghost ship! Looks like this really is something left over from hundreds of years ago."
The other young man picked up the bottle he'd thrown away. "Are you an idiot? It's just a bottle. What's there to be afraid of? Plenty of people collect these bottles
