The next day, beside the ruins of Papaya Island.
Though the arena was already gone, the Martial Arts Tournament organizers had hastily set up a farewell point on the nearby open ground.
By now, most of the crowd had dispersed, leaving only the main figures from yesterday's earth-shattering battle.
Goku was squatting on a large rock, clutching a roasted whole sheep he'd somehow gotten his hands on, eating with grease smeared all over his mouth.
Chi-Chi stood beside him, holding a small bundle, her face a mix of happiness and worry as she watched her "bottomless pit" of a husband.
"Goku, slow down, don't choke."
Chi-Chi pulled out a handkerchief to wipe his mouth, her movements as practiced as if she'd been taking care of this monkey for years.
"Once we're back on Mount Paozu, we can't eat like this every day. Dad's dowry is generous, but it won't last with you eating like this."
Chi-Chi sighed, her brow furrowing slightly.
Though she was the Ox-King's daughter, she knew the cost of daily necessities.
Goku's appetite was a bottomless pit.
She was already calculating how many fields she'd need to till and how many radishes to plant to support this family.
"Huh? No worries, Chi-Chi!"
Goku swallowed a huge chunk of meat, grinning carefreely.
"I can hunt! There are giant monster fish and dinosaurs in the mountains!"
"No!"
Chi-Chi immediately put on a stern face.
"Married life means settling down. What kind of life is it if you're always fighting and killing?"
"You need to learn farming and be a good, family-oriented man!"
Goku scratched his head in confusion.
"Farming? Is that a kind of training?"
Just then, the air twisted.
"Shwoosh!"
Krillin and Bulma appeared out of thin air before them.
After a night of bliss, Bulma looked radiant, her skin glowing as if lit from within.
She wore a fresh pair of denim shorts and a crop top, her arm linked with Krillin's, her face full of newlywed sweetness.
Krillin, in casual clothes, had his bald head gleaming in the sunlight.
"Yo! Goku, Chi-Chi! Heading out?"
Krillin greeted with a smile.
"Ah! Krillin!"
Goku jumped off the rock and excitedly circled around him.
"That Instant Transmission of yours is awesome! Can you teach me? Then I could instantly go to the forest and catch tigers to eat!"
"Well, maybe another time."
Krillin patted Goku's shoulder, then turned to Chi-Chi, who looked worried.
He knew exactly what was on her mind.
In the original story, Goku's family lived in poverty. The strongest man in the universe had to rely on Chi-Chi growing radishes, and was even forced to get a driver's license and work odd jobs to make ends meet.
That had distracted Gohan from training, and even affected his physical development due to a lack of good nutrition.
Now that he'd transmigrated, and was the son-in-law of the world's richest man, how could he let that happen?
"Chi-Chi, I heard you're going back to Mount Paozu to settle down?" Krillin asked, though he already knew.
"Yeah, Krillin."
Chi-Chi nodded politely. Though Krillin had taken the championship, she had a good impression of this bald, powerful man who had saved Goku (though he hadn't actually).
"It's quiet there, good for living."
"Living's good, but living costs money."
Krillin flipped his wrist, and a golden Capsule appeared in his palm.
"Here."
He tossed the capsule to Chi-Chi.
She caught it instinctively and asked, "What's this?"
"A wedding gift."
Krillin said casually.
"Nothing too special inside—just fifty thousand kilograms of gold, some of the latest appliances and furniture from West City, and a Capsule Corporation Black Gold Card that'll automatically deposit a hundred million Sony into it every month for living expenses."
"Clang!"
The bundle in Chi-Chi's hands hit the floor, and her jaw nearly dropped to her feet.
"F-Five... fifty thousand kilograms... of gold?!"
Chi-Chi's voice trembled.
"And a hundred million every month?!"
Even Yamcha and Tien Shinhan, who were picking their teeth nearby, were stunned.
Fifty thousand kilograms of gold?
How much money was that?
Had that bald guy robbed a bank vault somewhere?
"Krillin... this is too much! We can't accept it!"
Though Chi-Chi loved money (to support the family), she had her principles, and she quickly tried to shove the capsule back.
"Keep it."
Krillin pressed down on Chi-Chi's hand, his expression turning serious.
"It's not a handout. There's a mission."
"A... mission?" Chi-Chi froze. Was he going to make Goku an assassin?
Krillin leaned in between Goku and Chi-Chi.
Lowering his voice, he spoke mysteriously.
"Goku here is a martial arts nut. Making him earn money is just wasting his talent."
"This money is so he doesn't have to worry about making a living and can focus on training."
At that, Krillin glanced at Goku, then at Chi-Chi's belly, a glint in his eyes that only a reincarnator would understand.
"And besides, I have a very important task for you two."
"What task? Is it beating up bad guys?"
Goku perked up immediately.
"More important than beating up bad guys."
Krillin patted Goku on the chest.
"When you go back, you need to work hard... on making babies."
"Making babies?" Goku tilted his head.
