Year 1498 of the Sea Calendar.
As the entire world buzzed with the news of Pirate King Gol D. Roger's impending execution.
Inside a dark dungeon in the Holy Land Mary Geoise, a black-haired, black-eyed youth was bound tightly to a wooden cross with chains.
Footsteps and the scraping sound of chains on the ground echoed from outside the dungeon.
Leon's thoughts flickered. He could clearly feel the pain in his body, but he couldn't wake up. It was as if his soul and body were mismatched.
Leon was a recently graduated corporate slave. After working diligently for half a year, he wanted to go out and have some fun during the New Year. But as soon as he stepped out, he hit the jackpot. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself floating on an endless sea. Before he could even struggle, his head split with pain and he passed out.
While floating on the sea, Leon's body continuously emitted heat, causing the surrounding seawater to evaporate into white steam. A passing slave ship discovered the anomaly nearby, hauled Leon aboard, packaged him as rare merchandise, and sold him to the Celestial Dragons.
Inside the dungeon, as time passed, Leon gradually regained control of his body. He also realized the reason for his coma – a colossal entity had crossed over with him.
Two completely different beings had merged within Leon for an unknown reason. His body had fallen into a protective coma due to the intense stimulation...
Leon lowered his head, constantly adapting to his current body.
In the dark passage, the Celestial Dragon Roswald rode atop a tall, four-limbed slave, leading the procession. Behind him followed his two children, Charlos and Sharlia.
"I merely wanted to rent that slave called the Pirate King for a few days, but damn the Marines for daring to refuse the great Celestial Dragons!"
Roswald said with some indignation.
"Charlos, Sharlia, you must always remember that we Celestial Dragons are the noblest race. All other inferior races are only fit to be our slaves. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Father!"
Charlos responded foolishly, a snot bubble hanging from his nostril to his mouth. Sharlia carefully held a pug, scolding the slave to crawl steadily so as not to dirty her clothes.
Roswald's mood instantly improved. He sat cross-legged on the slave, hands on his hips, and said, "Although I didn't get the Pirate King, I bought a special slave at the auction..."
"Charlos, I plan to give this slave to you as a gift. I believe you'll like him very much..."
"Huh?"
A look of surprise flashed across Charlos's vacant face.
"Something I like..."
"Is it a mermaid, Father?"
"Of course not. What's so good about mermaids!" Roswald waved his hand. "It's a human with special abilities, possibly ate a Devil Fruit. You'll see him soon."
Upon hearing it wasn't his favorite mermaid, Charlos looked a bit dejected. Roswald, however, paid no mind. It was normal for children to be ignorant; mermaids got boring after a while.
Only slaves who were powerful pirate captains were exciting.
There was nothing more amusing than taming those who roamed the seas into one's own mount...
The group soon arrived at the dungeon entrance. Guards stepped forward and opened the cell door, releasing a wave of damp, rotten stench.
Leon, bound to the wooden frame, heard the cell door open and inwardly cursed his bad luck, accelerating his attempts to control his body.
Even though he didn't know where he had transmigrated to, in this situation, he couldn't possibly hope for a beautiful warrior princess to rescue him...
"Damn it!"
"According to the transmigration process, I should hear a 'ding' now and immediately allocate stats to my system... Why am I the fish on the chopping block now!"
The dungeon door creaked open, and Roswald's party entered. In the dim, eerie dungeon, Leon was the only slave. A guard in a black suit with a cold expression quickly stepped forward to confirm that Leon was still unconscious and that his body was securely bound to the wooden frame with Sea Prism Stone chains, posing no threat to the Celestial Dragons.
At the same time, he keenly noticed that the temperature in the dungeon was much higher than usual, with the heat originating from the motionless slave before him.
"What kind of ability is this? Emitting heat even when bound by Sea Prism Stone? Is it a special race...?"
The black-suited guard wondered to himself. Roswald was already growing impatient.
"You useless fool! What are you dawdling for?"
The black-suited guard flinched and immediately shouted, "Inspection complete, confirmed safe!"
He then quickly bowed and retreated.
Roswald dismounted his slave-mount and eagerly beckoned Charlos.
"Charlos, come quickly and see the slave I carefully selected for you."
Charlos reluctantly walked forward. However, the black-haired youth in rags on the wooden frame before him was utterly unremarkable, even less imposing than his current slave-mount.
