"Oh no, oh no! I'm going to be late! A City is having a massive sale, especially on steak, a whole 90% off! This is an unprecedented discount. I have to hurry, I have to hurry, faster, faster, I need to get to A City before the sale ends. Fast! Faster! Even faster!"

A bald man in a yellow tight suit, white cape, and red gloves was running for his life, muttering to himself as he sprinted.

The bald man was incredibly fast. His speed had already surpassed the speed of sound, even approaching the speed of light. He was like a yellow lightning bolt, a fleeting blur. People on the street couldn't even perceive his presence. Only seconds after he passed would a gust of wind kick up, lifting the skirts of young women.

"Ah!"

"Why is there such a sudden strong wind, damn it!"

"Jerk, you exposed me!"

"White, white..."

"Oh, so exciting, this wind is just perfect."

The bald man didn't consider the consequences of his high-speed dash. His mind was solely focused on the discounted steak. Nothing else occupied his thoughts.

The bald man's speed was so immense that it began to warp space itself. Under such rapid acceleration, not only space but even time started to distort.

Pop~~~

A peculiar sound suddenly rang out.

"Huh? Something feels a bit off. But whatever, discounted steak is the most important thing. I haven't eaten meat in so long. So, heaven and earth, discounted steak is the greatest."

The bald man muttered, not slowing his pace, his figure flashing past.

The instant the bald man vanished, like a shattered mirror, fragments of space appeared out of nowhere. Then, a woman in a yellow robe appeared. Most remarkably, this woman was also bald!

"This is it. A spatial rift suddenly appeared. Although it was only fleeting, it still left some traces. But... where is the intruder?" The bald woman frowned slightly, her gaze sweeping the surroundings, finding no sign of any intruder.

"Who could it be? Dormammu, or an invader from another dimension?" the bald woman mused. "But, besides residual spatial energy, there are no other traces here. No dark energy fluctuations, no other energy signatures. So, was it just a randomly broken spacetime channel? Or a black hole that suddenly appeared and disappeared?"

The bald woman found no clues and finally shook her head. She extended her hands, and a magic circle formed. Magic flowed from the circle, sweeping over the areas with residual spacetime energy and erasing all traces.

"I don't know if this is good or bad. I hope there won't be too many unexpected events." The bald woman finished speaking, drew a circle with her palm, and a circular portal appeared. She stepped through, and the portal vanished, leaving no trace behind.

"...So, what the heck is this place?! Why don't I recognize anything! Where am I! Did I get lost? No!!! My discounted steak!" The bald man, Saitama, let out a wail, his legs giving out as he knelt on the ground, hands planted on the earth, tears welling in his eyes. His financial situation had been dire lately; he hadn't eaten meat in a very, very long time.

*"Screech--" *

A sports car screeched to a halt, nearly scraping Saitama's body. The man with a small mustache inside the car frowned slightly, looking at Saitama blocking his path. He honked twice: "Hey, clown blocking the road, please move. I don't have time for your performance right now."

Saitama looked up blankly, glancing at the sports car that had almost hit him, then at the man inside frowning at him. He patted his bald head: "Um, excuse me, do you know how to get to A City? I think I'm lost."

"What?" Tony Stark was taken aback when Saitama asked this question.

Tony Stark had considered many possibilities. For a bald man in such bizarre attire, looking like a clown, he expected Saitama might ask for money as a performance fee, or something else. But he never anticipated being asked for directions at a time like this.

"Um, I need to get to A City. They have a steak sale there, and it's almost over, so I have to get to the supermarket before the sale ends. So, do you know how to get to A City?" Saitama pulled out a crumpled flyer advertising the sale.

"So, you stopped the world's richest man, Mr. Tony Stark, just to ask how to buy discounted steak?" Tony Stark's expression was one of utter bewilderment.

"Mhm, mhm, mhm, I don't have much time left, so, please, where is A City? Can you tell me?" Saitama nodded vigorously, looking at Tony Stark with his dull, dead-fish eyes.

"This joke isn't funny." Tony Stark's face was stern.

"Huh? A joke? No way? This flyer clearly says steak is on sale!" Saitama quickly looked at the sale flyer again.

"Mr. Clown, are you a professional actor? I have to say, your acting is quite good. But I don't have time to play this clown game with you." Tony Stark sneered. "So, move aside!"

Saitama remained in his dazed state, scratching his head. He realized he didn't understand what this person calling himself Tony Stark was saying. Still, Saitama took two steps to the side, clearing the way. "Um--"

"Alright, you've made a deep impression on me with your unique approach. I'll give you a chance. Here's my business card. You can take it and interview at Stark Industries. I must say, your method of job seeking is very novel and impressive. Your image is particularly distinctive; I probably won't forget it anytime soon." Tony Stark gave Saitama a thumbs-up.

"Huh?" Saitama stared blankly at the business card in his hand. He still didn't understand what was going on. But it seemed like the other person was offering him a job?

"Um, I--"

"Whoosh!"

Tony Stark's sports car sped past Saitama.

"Um, you still haven't told me how to get to A City..." Saitama watched the departing sports car, murmuring the words he had intended to say earlier.

ps: Some readers might ask why Saitama can speak and understand English. Isn't that unreasonable? Well, the author's explanation is that Saitama emerged from an English version of the story. Alternatively, in reality, both Saitama and Tony Stark are speaking Chinese because they are in a Chinese version of their respective worlds.

Does this explanation make sense? Just like in Japanese anime, the whole world speaks Japanese, and in Hollywood movies, the entire universe speaks English, it's perfectly reasonable for everyone in this book to speak Chinese, right?
