History
Jiang City and the Lin Family feud
The Su Family began as a cultivation family in Jiang City. Its younger generation included Su Zhi, its most talented descendant, Su Qingyi, and collateral descendant Su Yu. Su Zhi’s admission to the Cloud Sword Sect was treated as a major hope for the family. 1
The family’s rivalry with the Lin Family centered on Azure Mountain’s first-grade Spirit Vein. The Lin Family secretly worked with geomancer Guo Chudong to drive the Earth Rock Rat guardian beasts berserk and inflict severe losses on the Su Family’s Medicine Garden. 18
Su Bin’s Foundation Establishment breakthrough decisively ended the balance between the two clans. He pursued the fleeing Lin Family, annihilated all but Lin Danlang—who had married into the Bai Family—and claimed Spirit Moon Lake for the Su Family. 29
Rise through alchemy
After the Lin Family’s fall, the Su Family held four major assets: the Azure Mountain Spirit Vein, Medicine Garden, Spirit Moon Lake, and Alchemy Pavilion. 30
Su Yu later proposed that the family develop as an alchemist clan rather than depend only on contested resource lands. His strategy emphasized broad trade ties, avoiding unnecessary disputes, and building an inheritance capable of lasting for generations. 87
The family’s standing rose sharply after White Flame Alchemist’s fall left few second-rank alchemists in Cloud Sword Sect Territory. Cultivators and cultivation families increasingly turned to the Su Family for pill-refinement cooperation. 93 95
Pill Mountain era
When the family faced threats from Blood Saber Daoist Luo Bang, White Flame Alchemist, and the demon-path Su Qingyi, it activated its Mountain Protection Formation. The Yu Family intervened against the Jiang and Huang Families, while the Cloud Sword Sect Grand Elder offered Five Flames Mountain to the Su Family. 94
The clan relocated to Five Flames Mountain within half a year and renamed its new grounds Pill Mountain. 94 95
The family later joined the Yu Family in taking several Huang Family resource sites, including a first-grade Spirit Vein, a spirit spring, and spirit fields. 110 Following the Huang Family’s defeat, it gained access to an Ethereal Fruit tree, Ice Heart Lotus-producing cave dwelling, and other Foundation Establishment Pill materials. 115
Conflicts and expansion
The Cloud Sword Sect, Huang Family, and Jiang Family jointly besieged Pill Mountain, but withdrew after confronting Su Yu’s stores of Rank 2 talismans and puppet beasts. The incident established the Su Family as a force not to be lightly provoked. 112
The family’s Alchemy Pavilions were later attacked outside Cloud Sword Sect Territory, causing clan casualties. In response, the Su Family closed its external branches and recalled its members to Pill Mountain until the threat subsided. 117
After Su Yu’s victories over Xu Changqing and Huang Shengyi, the Su Family’s reputation allowed it to reopen Alchemy Pavilions throughout other factions’ market districts. 121
Later generations
Su Rui'an succeeded as Family Head and arranged a marriage alliance with Yu Wenji of the Yu Family. 121 122 Su Weixian later became Family Head, pursuing aggressive expansion through new Alchemy Pavilions, recruitment of talented in-laws, and incentives for producing descendants with spiritual roots. 229
As the clan’s population grew, internal branch conflicts emerged. Su Yu removed the troublesome collateral branches from Pill Mountain and appointed Su Qingshan as Family Head, instructing him to govern with both tolerance and iron discipline. 283
Over the following millennia, the family continued to develop under later patriarch Su Hongyuan. Several Su Family ancestors, including Su Zhi, eventually ascended to the Immortal Realm. 577
