Everyone's Spiritual World was different. Ian had taken up the Extraordinary Sequence held by the Alchemist Fellowship: Alchemist.
The Original Tree was the core of an Alchemist's profession, the manifestation of the source of spirituality. Its roots had sunk deep into his body, while the brimming lake water was Mana formed by refining magical energy.
According to the Extraordinary Professions Union's definition, witchcraft referred to casting methods dominated by spirituality that required no magical energy, or consumed only part of it.
Casting methods guided by spirituality but primarily consuming magical energy were called spells.
Alchemists clearly belonged to the Witchcraft Caster category.
Ian's grandfather had been an ordinary fisherman. By a fortunate coincidence, he obtained an incomplete Tide Hunter inheritance, awakened his spirituality, and stepped onto the Extraordinary path. He served the kingdom for half his life and only then finally became a noble.
Tide Hunters belonged to an immature Extraordinary profession. Their knowledge system was incomplete, their upper limit was low, yet the risk of spiritual loss of control was extremely high.
The Calvinde Family had always wanted to obtain a mature Extraordinary Sequence. Although Storm Cape had profited from the Age of Exploration and amassed wealth beyond what most people could achieve in a lifetime, it remained tremendously difficult.
The Justice Knights of the Church of Truth and Justice, the Solar Knights of the Sun God Church, the Battle Mages, Transformation Wizards, Curse Casters, and others of the Extraordinary Professions Union—several Extraordinary Sequences had once been within reach, but all ultimately came to nothing for one reason or another.
If the neutral Alchemist Fellowship had not extended an olive branch, Ian would probably have been forced to choose Tide Hunter.
Once someone took up an Extraordinary profession, it was almost impossible to change it.
Many Extraordinary individuals had once encountered better Extraordinary Sequences and rashly reconstructed their Spiritual Worlds to switch professions. Their spirituality suffered irreversible damage, and in the end, they either lost control and mutated or descended into madness and lost themselves.
Ian gave a gentle "leap" and drifted toward the "sun" hanging overhead.
From the moment he entered, he had sensed an abnormal pull coming from the Spiritual World.
Though it was called a "sun," it looked more like a golden eyeball. Its black pupil was tightly contracted and dim, while spirituality floated across its surface like flickering flames.
With a light "touch" from Ian, the eyeball abruptly contracted, and a card quietly appeared before him.
The entire card was black, covered in irregular cracks, as though someone had torn it apart and pieced it back together.
One black side bore a golden eyeball floating against an endless void. The other was covered in purple lines that seemed to constantly wriggle.
"This is... a card?"
"This looks like the deck I had at home, doesn't it?!"
In his previous life, he had been a programmer nearing thirty who had never had a girlfriend. His only hobby had been gaming.
He played every kind of game, and League of Legends was one of them. At a League of Legends-themed convention, he had won a Fate Deck personally collected by a Twisted Fate cosplayer.
The main card inside looked exactly like this!
That deck had been exquisitely made, blending ordinary playing cards with League of Legends fantasy elements. He often played with it, so there was no way he could be mistaken.
"Why is there only one?"
With a casual beckoning gesture, the card gently flew into Ian's "hand."
The moment he touched it, a wave of spirituality carrying information instantly merged into Ian's mind.
This card truly was a Fate Card from another time and space. Through a fortunate coincidence, it had bound itself to his soul. When he had been on the brink of death, it expended nearly all its power to protect his soul as it crossed time and space.
But it had been severely damaged as a result and needed to slowly recover with the help of his Spiritual World.
This was the main card, called Fate!
[Card: Fate] Effect One: Upon activation, enter the Fate perspective and gain true vision centered on yourself. All living beings whose paths intersect with the current world's trajectory will be seen by Fate. The range is affected by your own power. Effect Two: Consume the power of Fate to envelop yourself, then travel through the world's Fate trajectory to any location within the range of true vision. At the same time, sever all traces prior to that point in the timeline, making you impossible to track through prophecy, astrology, and similar methods. Unless new "traces" are obtained after your teleportation and divination is conducted again.
"Isn't this Twisted Fate's ultimate from League of Legends?"
"This is my cheat, isn't it?!"
The Spiritual World had no physical form. Otherwise, there was no telling how far Ian's grin would have stretched.
Ian carefully sensed the Fate Card's condition. Its current energy was enough to use Fate and Trajectory once.
The heart that had remained anxious ever since he woke up finally settled down.
An otherworldly adventure only counted as an adventure if you had a trump card. Without one, wasn't that just delivering yourself to your death?
The Fate Card had only one main card. The main card could produce new cards, also called secondary cards or derived cards.
Derived cards: The main card consumed the host's spirituality, Mana, and other Extraordinary power. Using the power of Fate, it derived objects and knowledge that had once intersected with the card along Fate's trajectory into card form.
There could be infinitely many derived cards. They were divided into three grades: low, medium, and high. In other words, the stronger one's Extraordinary abilities, the more derived cards one could have, and the stronger they would be.
The types of cards derived were somewhat connected to the host's spirituality. Derived cards could be gifted to others or destroyed.
With a thought from Ian, the Fate Card transformed back into a "sun" and hung above the Spiritual World. This was its true form.
The endless deep void in the surrounding space was actually the Veil of Fate constructed by the card. It cut off unknown "peering" from the Spirit Realm and Shadow Realm, protecting his spirituality from contamination.
At this moment, a "star" shone brilliantly within the void.
This was Fate's first gift: a derived card.
At Ian's command, the red "star" streaked toward him like a comet and, in an instant, appeared before him.
A completely transparent card the size of an ordinary playing card, almost without thickness, gently emerged before him.
If not for his spiritual perception, he would almost have suspected that there was nothing there at all.
[Card: Hidden Attack] Card Abilities: Invisibility, Sharpness. Card Spirituality: Veil of Secrets.
This was a low-grade attack card.
The card danced before Ian at his command. The spirituality within it did not clash with Ian's spirituality; the two were harmonious and perfectly compatible, without the slightest conflict.
This completely defied common sense!
Spirituality was the manifestation of the soul's power. It was not only related to one's Extraordinary profession, but also mutually influenced by one's own thoughts and will.
From the day it was born, spirituality had constantly faced the temptation of Extraordinary knowledge, the corrosion of the Shadow Realm, and the contamination of the Spirit Realm. Once it was contaminated, corroded, or learned Extraordinary knowledge from a different spirituality, it would inevitably suffer damage, lose control, or even mutate!
The original purpose of an Extraordinary Sequence was to construct a complete, systematic body of Extraordinary knowledge, allowing complementary abilities to form while ensuring spirituality remained stable and did not deviate, thereby increasing the profession's strength.
