Background / History
Lin Yuan, a man from Earth, transmigrated into Ian Calvender’s body after a car accident. Ian was the 17-year-old son of Baron Arnold Calvender, lord of Storm Cape at the southern tip of the Poldoria Kingdom. The original Ian was a Sequence 9 Alchemist and had received extensive weapons training as part of his noble upbringing. 1 4
Storm Cape was attacked by pirates. Baron Arnold pushed Ian from the castle while remaining behind with Ian’s brother and the guards. A contracted Deep Sea Swordfish carried Ian through the Storm Sea, but an unknown Incantation struck them; Ian was later taken aboard a merchant ship while disoriented. 1
To avoid exposure while investigating the attack on his family, Ian adopted the name Trist. He survived pirate attacks, acquired the Leviathan, and gradually assembled a crew around Milta, Lia, Anna, and other followers. 7 26 66
Ian eventually disclosed his identity as the former Lord of Storm Cape and presented the Poldoria royal family as responsible for the destruction of his family and territory. 192 He shifted from survival and revenge toward building a permanent power base, establishing Bilgewater, expanding across the New Continent, and later founding the Carlvinde Empire. 193 420 471
Appearance
Ian is pale-skinned, with a dense and firm physique that does not initially appear overly muscular. After consuming dragon essence, his skin and flesh briefly emitted a faint radiance. 134
- Possesses exceptional physical strength, capable of lifting 200 kilograms one-handed for repeated lifts. 89
- His presence after reaching Sequence 7 caused even his crew to feel oppressive fear, likened to standing beside an ancient dragon. 175
- His right eye became purplish-red after storing the Lifeform Disintegration Ray within it. 392
- Often uses the Starry Voyager Robe, which can alter its form; he once wore it as a purple trench coat. 191
Personality
Ian is cautious, analytical, and strongly motivated by self-preservation. After the attack on Storm Cape, he concealed his identity, used false names, verified food for poison, and prioritized gathering information before making commitments. 7 11
He values competence, loyalty, and practical results over status. He rewards crew members generously through merit exchanges, equipment, Body Enchantments, and Extraordinary Sequences, but also uses oaths, contracts, and imprints of his will to secure control. 87 116 233
Although initially uncomfortable with violence, Ian comes to regard personal martial power as his most reliable strength after killing a juvenile sea dragon through direct combat. 131 His later actions reflect increasing ambition and ruthlessness, including territorial expansion, political manipulation, and the use of Fate Web powers to protect his secrets. 242 402 450
Abilities & Skills

- Gained the Living Forge card, enabling Artisan Master-level forging and equipment upgrades. 276
Close-Quarters Combat
Ian received training in firearms, bows, scimitars, longswords, and other weapons before becoming an Alchemist. Firearms are his strongest conventional weapon specialty. 4
- Defeated all forty-nine Leviathan crew members, including senior crew and Seahorse Knights, using only close-combat skill and the Water Wave Spear. 123
- Combines immense strength with Precision, Weapon Master, Alchemy Philosophy, Making the Most of Everything, and anticipation of enemy movements. 123
- Killed a juvenile sea dragon primarily through his own combat ability rather than cannons, firearms, or alchemical weapons. 131
- Possesses the Fighter profession and can track Fighters through a connection to a fist-shaped sculpture. 121
Magic Patterns and Body Enchantment
Ian developed methods to use Forbidden Enchantment through basic Magic Patterns without suffering its usual side effects. 60
- Can apply Magic Patterns such as Attribute Boost, Gigantification, Biological Toxin, and Spider Sense. 60
- Successfully enhanced Anna by integrating a Magic Pattern with her Living Skin. 103
- Conducted successful Body Enchantment procedures on multiple crew members. 88
- Uses “volunteers” and controlled experiments to reduce risk before applying new enhancements to his crew. 66 88
Dragon Essence Absorption
The Eat Heartily card transformed Ian’s digestive system into a furnace-like spatial stomach, allowing immense consumption and rapid digestion of food. 133
- Digests extraordinary meat, including dragon meat, rapidly and without normal fullness. 134
- Selectively absorbs dragon-derived traits rather than accepting all available changes at once. 134 139
- Acquired Magic Resistance, Toughness, Regeneration, Stamina, Power Burst, Shapeshift Immunity, Disease Immunity, and multiple resistance traits. 134 139
- Requires extraordinary food for efficient nourishment; ordinary food is insufficient for his needs after life ascension. 215
Star and Spatial Magic
Ian developed star-related powers distinct from his original Alchemist path.
- Starry Sky Flowing Beauty — grants extraordinary flight speed through the combined effects of his body, Celestial Starlight, Spirituality, and stardust. 286
- Starry Sky Barrier — creates a “world within a world” capable of suppressing hostile barriers and protecting allies within its range. 338
- Star Realm Walker — grants resistance to the Star Realm’s environment, spatial turbulence, starlight tides, and short-range teleportation, though he cannot yet physically leave Aiolanga for the Star Realm. 447
- Lifeform Disintegration Ray — a short-range, high-consumption single-target spell that ignores defenses and deals true damage; Ian stores a pre-cast ray in his right eye. 392
Fate Web
Ian dissolved his Fate Card and entered the Fate Web, a tangible entity that records and digitizes trajectories of Fate. 401 402
- Uses the Fate Web for prophecy, reconnaissance, and observing possible futures. 402 404
- Can manipulate Fate trajectories and enhance command-type effects through Fate energy. 402
- Uses Fate’s Blessing to mark and transfer legendary items connected to his Fate trajectory. 402
- Can sever followers’ connections to the Fate Web to preserve secrecy, at the cost of slowing its growth. 402
- Used the Fate Web to infiltrate Langser City, capture forbidden items, and destroy an Ancient Teleportation Magic Array. 450
- Repaired damaged sections of the Fate Web, expanding its coverage and obtaining derivative Fate Cards. 462

- He once used a rare Magic Carpet for manual labor, helping transport cannons rather than reserving it solely for combat or travel. 145
- His former Earth life included long hours of coding and overtime before his transmigration. 1
- Ian’s rise from a minor noble’s son to a high-sequence Transcendent in less than a year became a major source of speculation among other powers. 312
