After leaving the city, they crossed a stone bridge.
The grassland rose and fell, the terrain forming standard rolling hills.
It was high noon.
Daeren arrived at his fief and ordered Ser Jon and the accompanying Lord Owen to dismount and rest.
He walked to a high point to survey the surrounding terrain.
A massive ridge of hills stretched from east to west, the uncultivated grassland uneven and overgrown with shrubbery.
"Not bad."
Daeren nodded as he looked around.
This area was within his fief, not far from King's Landing or the East Coast, making it convenient to travel wherever he wished.
At the same time, there was no sign of human habitation nearby.
He would not be disturbed.
Lord Owen led his horse over and hurriedly introduced, "Prince, this was once the territory of the Blackfyre family, but it was razed to the ground by 'Bloodraven' Brynden."
Daemon Blackfyre had not ruled this territory for long, having only built a castle and cleared some wasteland here.
After the First Blackfyre Rebellion ended, every trace of the Blackfyre family had been erased by Bloodraven.
For the past hundred years, few had paid it any attention.
It was only toward the end of the reign of Daeren's grandfather, Jaehaerys II, that he remembered this piece of royal land and relocated a portion of the refugees from King's Landing to a spot over ten miles to the west to be self-sufficient.
For Daeren, it was truly something his grandfather had left for him.
"This is great." Daeren was extremely satisfied.
He and Tywin had analyzed the situation; his father, Aerys, had never intended to grant him a fief, viewing this land as a disguised form of harassment.
Because of this, the area was surprisingly large.
Bordered by the Blackwater Rush to the north, the coastline to the east, the edge of the Kingswood to the south, and the end of the Mander to the west, this vast expanse of two thousand square kilometers had been dumped on him all at once.
Such a large territory ranked highly among the fiefs of the nobility in the Seven Kingdoms.
Pros: Large area, fertile soil.
Cons: Sparsely populated, with no one to farm the land.
Without the panel, 500 Gold Dragons would be a drop in the bucket, nowhere near enough to start development.
Within Daeren's field of vision lay a hilly area with flat terrain and an expansive view.
An excellent location for a farm.
After a brief rest, the three of them followed a small path forward.
A moment later.
An area overgrown with wild grass, dense forests, and scattered rocks and logs appeared.
Daeren also spotted a small wooden cabin.
The cabin was clearly newly built, hidden away by the trees in the shade.
"Prince, this is the temporary residence built according to your wishes."
Lord Owen wiped the sweat from his brow; climbing mountains was not suitable for a man of his age.
Seeing that the Prince seemed quite satisfied with this wasteland, the words of caution stuck in his throat. He only hoped the other party wasn't the type of pure Targaryen who inherited the temperament of his ancestors.
Throughout the Seven Kingdoms, a saying circulated: "Every time a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin to decide whether they will be great or mad."
The members of the Targaryen line had never lacked great monarchs or headstrong madmen.
In his forty-plus years of experience, he had seen too many Targaryens who stood in opposition to the mundane world.
Daeren was secretly excited, though he remained calm on the surface: "Lord Owen, I will stay here for a few days to familiarize myself with the environment. You may return and report back."
"Er..."
Owen hesitated for a moment, then let out a sigh of relief: "Very well, Prince."
Those who knew how to flatter were best at currying favor; he mounted his horse and left immediately.
Once he was gone, Daeren found an excuse to send Ser Jon away, creating the time needed to establish the farm.
Hoo~~
Left alone on the mountain, the cool breeze brushed against his cheeks, leaving his mind exceptionally clear.
Daeren no longer hesitated. He opened the Stardew Valley Panel and, beneath the five golden-orange characters, clicked to confirm the creation of the farm.
[Name: Daeren Targaryen]
[Farm Name: Dragon Tongue Farm]
[Favorite Thing: CN]
[Animal Preference: Dog]
The appearance options below were left at default. On the left, he clicked on the farm type: [Meadow Farm].
Having rehearsed the contents dozens of times in his mind, his movements were swift.
As for the farm name, "Dragon Tongue" was his favorite after careful selection.
Due to his personal temperament, as well as potential future wars, long nights, and other disasters, he had originally prepared several names.
Sweet Apple, Abundance, Long Summer...
But in the end, he chose to name it [Dragon Tongue Farm], because he hoped to possess a dragon, one that did not rely on the talents brought by its bloodline.
"Everything is brand new. Let's go."
He clicked confirm.
A soft white light flashed. Daeren gently closed his eyes, and the sound of wooden mallets tapping away echoed in his ears.
A few seconds later, the sound came to an abrupt halt.
When Daeren opened his eyes again, the vacant lot had undergone a remarkably significant change.
First, his small wooden cabin had become slightly weathered.
A chimney had appeared on the roof, a woodpile stood before the door, and there were signs of repairs beneath the windows.
None of this mattered.
What was truly magical was the change in terrain.
The path on the north side of the farm had turned into a dirt road, and a circle of log fencing had appeared on the perimeter, specifically marking out the farm's boundaries.
Daeren lifted his leg and stepped over a patch of newly sprouted Blue Grass, walking a short distance to the west. He saw that the rock walls on both sides had been hollowed out, creating a dirt path leading westward.
Beside the path, a cascading waterfall and a fenced-in wooden Chicken Coop had appeared out of thin air.
The Chicken Coop was completely covered by blue and green grass, reaching up to a person's waist, looking like a sea of blue-green grass.
"Great, it really has the characteristics of a Meadow Farm."
Before he could explore the full extent of the farm, Daeren was struck by a moment of intense realization.
Once a farm is chosen, it can never be changed.
As a veteran farmer who had delved deep into this path, he understood the respective pros and cons of the eight farms in [Stardew Valley] very well.
Standard Farm: Largest cultivation area, regular farm shape.
Hill-top Farm: Small cultivation area, comes with a private quarry.
Forest Farm: Small cultivation area, comes with hardwood and foraging resources.
Beach Farm...
Among them, the Meadow Farm introduced in the 1.6 update is undoubtedly a very hardcore farm.
Although the cultivation area is only two-thirds that of the Standard Farm, it possesses an irreplaceable advantage.
It starts you off with a Chicken Coop and two chicks.
The construction requirements for a Chicken Coop: 4,000 gold, 300 wood, 100 stone.
The purchase price for one chick is 800 gold, so two would be 1,600 gold.
Counting all the requirements and time costs, it saves at least 6,000 to 8,000 gold.
Daeren chose the Meadow Farm, rounding up, he saved 10,000 gold.
He made a killing.
He just didn't know if the exchange rate between gold coins and gold dragons was linked.
While searching for the two chicks, Daeren opened his panel.
Farmer: Daeren Targaryen Farming: Level 0 Mining: Level 0 Foraging: Level 0 Fishing: Level 0 Combat: Level 0
This was the panel for the five masteries, with some small text and icons below it.
Sacrifice Star Level: 0 House Upgrade: 0 Mine Floors: 0 Stardrop Collection: 0
At the same time, in the top right corner of the panel, he saw the familiar calendar, time, weather, and gold count.
The time displayed is Spring 1st, Monday, Sunny, 13:32.
Gold: 500
"Comprehensive, this really has great potential."
Daeren was pleasantly surprised, years of restraint erupting all at once.
He couldn't help but be amazed.
Beyond the content mentioned above, there were many other panel features worth exploring.
Before long, he had figured out most of them.
Features like the inventory, map, crafting, animals, special items-abilities, and the collection log from the game had all been retained.
Among them, the map currently only recorded the farm's perimeter; everything outside the farm was covered in fog, presumably requiring exploration.
"Peep, peep, peep..."
Two palm-sized chicks shook their heads and wobbled out from the blue-green pasture, walking over to the fence with their wings akimbo.
One was brown, named Grape.
One was white, named Coconut.
They were the two chicks included with the Chicken Coop.
The chicks would mature in three days, after which they would produce one egg every day.
"Hello there, you two."
A smile reached the depths of Daeren's eyes as he leaned over the fence to stroke each of the chicks.
These weren't just ordinary chicks; they were clearly his founding team for this venture.
At this moment, he was certain.
The impact the Red Comet had brought to the continent indirectly aligned with the panel, and Dragon Tongue Farm would become the largest production base for Special Crops.
