Background and History

Arrival at King's Landing

Tyrion travels from Casterly Rock to meet Daeren, whom he openly admires. Tywin attempts to send him with Daeren's force bound for Tarth Island, treating the assignment as a chance for Tyrion to be exposed to battlefield danger; Tyrion eagerly accepts despite Daeren's initial refusal 169.

Tyrion later accompanies the royal campaign without Tywin's approval, keeping accounts and persuading Golden Company mercenaries. Tywin responds by verbally humiliating him and ordering him back to Casterly Rock 228.

Rise Through the Tyrosh Campaign

After Tyrosh falls, Tyrion earns Daeren's attention by proposing a political settlement for the Borgiali siblings rather than an immediate execution or public trial 244. He remains in Daeren's service as a Small Council adviser and accompanies the court to Tyrosh, where he narrowly survives riots and assassination attempts against the royal vassals 246 247.

Daeren entrusts Tyrion with the imprisoned Tyroshi Governors. Tyrion uses staged executions, bribery, family leverage, and rivalries among the local elite to force the remaining Governors into submission and identify the forces behind the unrest 248.
