"This could be a bit of a problem."
Reilo could naturally see how terrifying this bizarre parasitic plant was.
Ever since the duchy had become a Radiation Wasteland, the ancient creatures of the Underground World had been demonized, Shadow Wall Demons had appeared, and all kinds of unknown changes had followed the arrival of the Superhumans. After wave upon wave of mass extinctions, the surviving creatures here—apart from the crops grown in scholars' greenhouses—had almost all begun undergoing violent mutations in an increasingly brutal direction.
Only the Starveil Land, with its astonishing variety of life and lush vegetation under the gentle ecological laws of the Creator of Light, could still sustain so many mutated creatures through successive ecological cataclysms.
In other wind eyes, where the extreme laws allowed for far fewer species, even if weakened zones of the wind eyes still remained, the broken food chains would likely have turned them into barren lands containing nothing but the most primitive single-celled organisms.
This was not hard to understand.
The Radiation Wasteland and the nearby Central Orora Empire, the Underground World, the Superhumans, the Shadow Wall Demons, the ancient subterranean creatures, and the Black Death had all become part of this new ecosystem.
Humans had once stood at the peak of the ecological food chain here. Yet 99 percent of the population had died in little more than a decade, and the less than one percent who remained were still constantly on the brink of extinction. Naturally, other creatures hadn't fared any better.
Some of the lower life forms, however, had mutated rapidly after the mass extinction. They were beginning to adapt to the new environment and spread.
Humans, as higher life forms, were like children trying to survive in a strange environment, struggling to adapt to this new ecosystem and
