After Bailan followed the three Sand Surges out of the enclosed space inside the Flying Device, what she saw was the kind of sight produced by optical technology that she had never heard of or imagined before.

The tens of millions of crystals making up the shell of this enormous Flying Device refracted light between one another in a dazzling display. Yet these brilliant lights formed all the facilities inside the Flying Device.

Although these facilities were utterly unlike anything required by the structure of a human body, Bailan could still easily guess their general purpose.

However, Bailan found their aesthetic design difficult to accept. Every facility was outlined with the simplest of lines. Sometimes, just three or five rays of light represented the walls of a partition. The Sand Surges on either side of those walls seemed to be in their own private spaces as they went about their work.

At that moment, the Sand Surges inside the Flying Device were controlling the controls by blowing bubbles to affect the refraction of light.

"A profound application of optical and magnetic phenomena."

Though she had only just begun to explore it, Bailan had already formed a few theories about the power wielded by this unfamiliar and powerful civilization.

The Sand Surges each had their own duties.

They paid no attention to the refracted light inside the Flying Device as they moved back and forth, reducing the need for bulky equipment and making the interior seem much larger than it was.

Hum.

The exit beneath Bailan was sealed off by hundreds of crystals.

The Sand Surges did not question the human scholar in depth about the Flying Device she had captured. Perhaps they had already learned the secrets they wanted through more discreet means, or perhaps they simply considered this old
