Death Storms had originated from the great catastrophe that followed the release of Alpha Particles in ancient times. They were among the most common and influential ecological disasters in the world, and had even spread to Superbody Star, home of the Star Body Siphon.
Violent gales were like millions of knives, relentlessly scouring everything in their path.
Anything that survived the storm's destruction was accelerated by the Death Storm until it flew like cannonballs, turning the regions in its path into barren wastelands where life could barely survive.
That was why.
To the intelligent, developing civilizations that had arisen by chance, everything beyond the eye of the storm was like an utterly silent, dark forest: impossible to explore and full of danger. They had no idea how many terrifying beings lurked in the darkness, silently watching them. Those beings were far stronger than they were, and all they could do was hide in the dark, careful even to breathe quietly.
And the moment they were exposed and drew the attention of those dangerous beings, their life or death would depend entirely on the other side's whim.
Two years after leaving the wasteland.
Still two full Star Curtain units away from the exposed dark coordinates, the Academic World's Space-Time Fortress emerged from Curvature Spacetime. After gliding briefly, it came to a stop in the midst of this Death Storm.
Gray haze stretched in every direction, with nothing out of the ordinary in sight.
A ripple passed over the enormous Flying Device, and two figures flew out from within the ultra-pure water protective shield. They were Reilo and old Chuback.
Since Bailan had brought news that the Flowing Sand Civilization possessed the technology to monitor Curvature Spacetime, everyone had decided, for safety's sake, to abandon the plan of sneaking through with Curvature
