It was noon.
"Time's up."
A cruel smile appeared at the corner of Great Chieftain Bloodboil's mouth as he waved toward the front.
Woo...
A Destroyer held a horn and blew it with all his might.
The melodious howl echoed across the vast hilly valley. Affected by it, tens of thousands of Destroyers released the chains and reins in their hands. The ferocious beasts, ranging from three to five meters in size, immediately charged toward the human city at the horizon like wild horses breaking free of their reins.
As the beasts drew closer to the human city, the gaps between the wrinkles in their skin gradually began to turn dark red. Their body temperatures rose higher and higher, and they took on the form of Lava Hounds.
Wherever the tens of thousands of Lava Hounds passed, they left behind a landscape of flames and ashes.
The Destroyers watched from behind, waiting for opponents capable of matching their warriors to be driven out by these Lava Hounds.
After thousands upon thousands of battles, large and small, the Destroyers had long grown accustomed to having these Lava Hounds as companions. Their relationship was by no means that of masters and slaves or owners and pets. They trusted one another like friends in a symbiotic partnership.
The Destroyers possessed factors that inspired trust and submission in the Lava Hounds.
Likewise, the Destroyers relied heavily on the Lava Hounds. They did more than charge into battle, drive prey, and eliminate cannon fodder during wartime. In their daily lives, they accompanied one another closely, serving as sentries, sparring partners, and emotional companions. They were co-evolutionary partners cultivated generation after generation throughout the Destroyers' long evolutionary history.
