System Task

"You call this a Point System? You should call it the 'Take My Life System'! It gives me a hundred Points for completing a task—what, am I supposed to live off handouts? The good stuff in the Shop costs a fortune in Points. How am I supposed to make something of myself with Points?" Tianqi started cursing the system.

The Uchiha were now split into two factions. One was the Militant Faction, led by the Elder. They were die-hard fans of Uchiha Madara. The Elder was as strong as the Clan Head, but too few people supported him, so he had no chance of becoming Clan Head.

Madara had been Clan Head once, after all, so it was only natural that some people remained loyal to him. Unfortunately, Madara had wanted to lead the clan out of Konoha, but most of the clan members disagreed, so he had to leave alone. The Militant Faction had been willing to follow Madara, but he hadn't taken them with him.

The other faction was the Moderate Faction, led by the current Clan Head, formerly the Elder, Uchiha Qingyang. They loved the peaceful life in Konoha, so they had refused to go with Madara back then.

The Militant Faction had only about a hundred members, while the Moderate Faction had several thousand. Although the Militant Faction was small, its members were formidable fighters. Every one of them was trained for battle—even the elderly and the women were ninjas, except for the little children who couldn't walk yet. The faction was strong as a whole, but aside from the Elder, it had no truly powerful fighters.

The Moderate Faction was different. Its members weren't all trained for battle like those in the Militant Faction, but they made up for it in numbers. What's more, they had the Clan Head, the one who truly made decisions for the clan. They also had more top fighters than the Militant Faction: besides the Clan Head, there was Kagami Uchiha, who had been taken on as a student by Tobirama Senju.

As far as Tianqi knew, Uchiha Yang belonged to the Moderate Faction. Though he was a Genin, he wasn't an ordinary one—he was an Elite Genin, already on the verge of becoming a Chunin.

With his own strength as an ordinary Genin, Tianqi stood no chance against Uchiha Yang. The more he thought about it, the angrier he got.

"Damn system, are you really trying to get me killed early? If you want me gone, just erase me! Why give me a task too? Are you trying to humiliate me?" Tianqi had barely finished cursing when the system's voice sounded.

Looking at the Novice Gift Pack the system had issued, Tianqi immediately cursed. "This system really needs a good cursing-out. If I hadn't cursed you, were you just not going to give me the Novice Gift Pack? Hmph! I'm mad."

After cursing, Tianqi looked at the gift. Seeing the options, he decisively ruled out the A-Rank Ninjutsu. "Forget the advanced ninjutsu. With my tiny amount of Chakra, even if I learned it, I wouldn't be able to use it. That one's out."

Then he looked at the other option. "The Single Tomoe Sharingan isn't bad. It can improve my perception, which would be a pretty big boost to my current abilities."

Just as he was about to choose the Single Tomoe Sharingan, he saw its price in the Shop and was furious.

"Damn system, the Single Tomoe Sharingan costs only a hundred Points to redeem! I could just complete a task and buy it myself. How is this a choice between two options? You're clearly only giving me some ninjutsu below A-Rank. Come out and see if I don't beat you up!" Tianqi finished cursing, but the system didn't even respond.

Seeing that the system stayed silent, Tianqi hesitated for a while before choosing the ninjutsu best suited to him right now. "System, I choose the C-Rank Ninjutsu: Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique."

The moment he made his choice, he completely mastered the Great Fireball Technique. He felt as if he'd practiced it for years; he understood every aspect of how to use it.

"This technique is probably the best fit for me right now. With my current Genin-level Chakra, I can use it three times at most. As long as I can catch Uchiha Yang off guard and hit him, I can complete the task. I have to do this first task perfectly." Tianqi clenched his fist.

As for Hand Seals, since he hadn't had much to learn over the years, Tianqi had spent most of his time practicing them. Now his hand-signing speed was almost as fast as Kakashi's had been as an adult.

Time passed slowly as Tianqi waited at home for Uchiha Yang to show up.

Half an hour.

One hour.

Three hours.

Five hours.

Seeing that it was already dark outside, Tianqi finally couldn't sit still.

"System, what the hell are you up to? Didn't you say Uchiha Yang would come looking for trouble? It's dark already, and he still hasn't shown up. Are you messing with me?"

"Don't think I'll let you off just because you're keeping quiet. I'll curse you out anyway!" Tianqi launched into a tirade. After ten minutes, he finally stopped. His mouth was parched, but the system hadn't said a word.

"Damn! You really can take it. Fine, system, you win. I'm going out to see what's going on." Tianqi drank a glass of water and left the house. After wandering around aimlessly for a while, he finally figured out the problem.

"No wonder Uchiha Yang hasn't come. This place is on the outskirts—there isn't a soul around, not even a dog. I never paid much attention to this lousy area, but there's barely anyone here!"

After complaining, he slowly headed toward the busier part of town. As soon as he got close, Tianqi spotted his target. "Uchiha Yang, so this is where you are. No wonder I couldn't find you."

"If you won't come to me, I'll go right to you." As he spoke, Tianqi walked slowly toward Uchiha Yang without even looking at him.

Uchiha Yang noticed Tianqi too. Seeing him, he smirked. "You, you spineless coward. Let's see how I deal with you." With that thought, he walked straight toward Tianqi. The adults had told him to stay away from Tianqi, but he didn't care at all.

A Young Clan Head who'd lost his title and was too weak to fight, practically under house arrest—he was the perfect target to bully.

The two walked toward each other as if they didn't know one another. Just as they were about to pass, Uchiha Yang leaned to one side and deliberately bumped into Tianqi.

"Well, if it isn't our Young Clan Head, Uchiha Tianqi. Oh, wait—our former Young Clan Head. What brings you out for a stroll today?" Uchiha Yang said mockingly.

"What are you getting at?" Tianqi eyed him. He wanted to see what Uchiha Yang was up to.

"What am I getting at? It's because of your father that our clan was driven from the center of the village to this corner by Lord Hokage! If not for your father, the Uchiha wouldn't have lost the Second Hokage's position. It's all your father's fault!"

"And you have the nerve to ask what I'm getting at? Still acting so cocky? I'm going to teach you a lesson, you useless piece of trash!" With that, he punched at Tianqi.

When Tianqi saw Uchiha Yang attack without warning, he leaned aside and dodged. In the same motion, Tianqi turned and kicked at him, but Uchiha Yang's Taijutsu was no slouch, and he dodged as well.

Their fists and feet clashed, and for a while, they fought to a standstill. Seeing that he couldn't gain the upper hand, Uchiha Yang pulled out a Kunai and hurled it at Tianqi.

The Kunai struck Tianqi, and Uchiha Yang froze, surprised he'd hit him so easily. Then the Tianqi who'd been struck vanished with a poof, leaving behind a log.

Uchiha Yang realized he'd been tricked. Just as he was about to move, a Kunai was pressed against his neck, and Tianqi's voice came softly.

"You lose."

Uchiha Yang didn't panic, even with a Kunai at his throat. He said calmly, "I knew it wouldn't be that easy. But don't underestimate me."

With a poof, Uchiha Yang also turned into a log.

Then the two clashed again. Gradually, Tianqi started falling behind. After all, his opponent was an Elite Genin, while he was only an ordinary Genin. He could manage for a short time, but not for long.

An Anbu watching Tianqi turned to the person beside him and asked, "Captain, they're fighting in the village. Shouldn't we stop them?"

"Why should we? It's just kids messing around. Look, Uchiha Tianqi's already on the back foot. Besides, it's the Uchiha biting each other. What's that got to do with us?"

"Uchiha Tianqi would be better off getting beaten up. That would make it easier for us to explain things to Lord Hokage. Lord Hokage doesn't like him anyway," the Anbu Captain said indifferently.

"B-but, Captain, isn't that a little wrong?"

"What's wrong with it? Just watch."

While the Anbu were talking, Tianqi could see that the longer the fight went on, the worse things were getting for him. He began dodging while searching for an opportunity to use a ninjutsu.
