An Overpowered M-Level Serum

Lin Qi inspected all the equipment one by one to make sure nothing had been damaged during transport.

As expected, the transport had been too rough, with the equipment riding in the mecha's cargo compartment. Several pieces needed repairs.

"Good thing my mechanical knowledge is solid."

Repairing something was much easier than building it from scratch, and Lin Qi had brought the tools he needed in his exoskeleton.

When Wang Ziru brought the people Lin Qi had requested into the lab, Lin Qi was taking a piece of equipment apart.

Wang Ziru froze for a moment. The several survivors who had come to help did too.

He'd gone to all that trouble to bring the equipment back, only for Lin Qi to take it apart?

They didn't remain stunned for long. Lin Qi worked quickly. After making a few simple repairs, he reassembled the equipment and restored it to its original state.

"As expected of you, Junior Lin. Your skills are miles ahead of everyone else. You've really mastered the core technology."

Wang Ziru was the first to react, and he praised Lin Qi.

Lin Qi looked up at Wang Ziru.

The small change in how Wang Ziru addressed him showed that he wanted to appear close to Lin Qi in front of the survivors.

Lin Qi didn't call him out. Wang Ziru's little scheme could help him manage the survivors' camp.

"Wait here a little while. I'll be conducting some experiments soon, and I'll need your help."

Lin Qi nodded to Wang Ziru, then turned to the college students who had come to assist.

They were probably still undergraduates; there was still a hint of innocent cluelessness in their eyes.

They were nothing like Wang Ziru, the part-time master's student, whose eyes had already been thoroughly tainted by the ugliness of the working world.

Lin Qi was more satisfied with assistants like these.

He turned back to Wang Ziru and continued giving instructions. "Make sure today's rescue operation is safe. Form teams around the five exoskeleton suits, equip them with Electromagnetic Kinetic Guns, and have them carry high-powered transmitters. If they run into danger, they should call for help immediately."

"If you receive a distress signal, come to me at once."

Lin Qi couldn't afford to devote too much attention to other people for now. The crisis in the Cyber World was too urgent.

"Understood," Wang Ziru replied solemnly.

Wang Ziru knew that only by carrying out Lin Qi's instructions perfectly could he earn enough standing in the survivors' camp.

In the apocalypse, status meant safety.

Being part of the management meant not having to risk your life outside.

Wang Ziru was afraid of dying.

After answering Lin Qi, Wang Ziru immediately left the room to organize the camp's work.

The science and engineering students were assigned to the production lines, where they worked while studying the design principles behind Lin Qi's blueprints.

Students with lab experience were sent to assist in Lin Qi's lab.

The rest were liberal arts students.

In the apocalypse, the knowledge they'd gained from studying the humanities seemed to have little use.

That wasn't entirely true, though.

Some students in philosophy-related majors were steadfast in their beliefs and exceptionally decisive.

Wang Ziru assigned them directly to the field teams, where they would rescue survivors and gather supplies.

These students could inspire the team, and some even had the makings of leaders.

The survivors' camp, centered around the Club Activity Building, began to function at full capacity.

Everything gradually fell into place.

"Next, I'll explain the experimental procedure. First, I can tell you that the project is called the Human Enhancement Serum."

"That's right, it's exactly what you're thinking. Once the serum is perfected, even if you haven't awakened an Extraordinary power in the apocalypse, you might still be able to become Captain America by taking it."

"What's Captain America? That's not important. Just know that he's a super-soldier."

"Only when every survivor has the power to protect themselves—even to tear apart most Zombies with their bare hands—will human civilization have hope."

First, define the goal and give the workers a sense of purpose. Make them understand they were doing something momentous, something that could change the fate of humanity.

Lin Qi was empowering the team, giving them the motivation to work together.

Then Lin Qi continued, "Your work is simple. The experiment is similar to an exhaustive search or a controlled-variable experiment. Using the limited materials available, try as many combinations as possible."

"I'll use my Extraordinary powers to inspect the state of each batch. You don't need to worry too much."

Lin Qi had already mastered this process at the company.

The two new M-level serums were proof of his ability.

The only difference from the company's project was that Lin Qi would be adding Crimson Crystals, an Extraordinary Item that could be obtained in bulk.

Crimson Crystals already contained abundant Spiritual Energy Particles and could enhance the human body.

Lin Qi's task was to see if he could amplify their effects.

Looking at the workers in the lab, Lin Qi saw that they weren't the only ones fired up. Even Xia Chu, who had been listening to him, had a burning look in her eyes.

Lin Qi thought to himself, There should be research on making serums from Extraordinary Items in the Cyber World, but it definitely wouldn't be covered at the M-level. Even A-level research might not involve Extraordinary Items.

I hope the experiment succeeds. I hope the method of producing the serum won't differ too much from that of an M-level serum.

Lin Qi wasn't very confident. Even though he'd successfully made serums before, he was still a novice in the field.

I'll first try using the basic framework of a general M-level serum to induce an initial aggregation of Spiritual Energy Particles.

Once a medicine had Spiritual Energy Particles attached to it, it gained special effects that ordinary drugs didn't have.

Spiritual Energy Particles could enhance the effects of most drugs. This was the foundation of M-level serum production.

"Each of you will handle ten test tubes. Add the ingredients in the order I give you."

"Be careful not to create too many bubbles..."

Lin Qi demonstrated while giving instructions.

The process seemed to be going smoothly.

The serum had developed the Spiritual Energy Particle attachment effect. And since the concentration of Spiritual Energy Particles in the Doomsday World far exceeded that in the Cyber World, the serum would most likely be much more potent than its Cyber World counterpart.

"Can an M-level serum from the Cyber World raise the enhancement limit in the Doomsday World?"

Lin Qi thought for a moment, then made his decision.

Guessing was pointless. Experimentation was the only way to find the truth.

First, he prepared a batch of the M-level serum he had successfully made at the company.

Based on Lin Qi's judgment, the serum enhanced the human body.

Its target customers were people who hadn't yet reached the level of a Martial Artist or another Extraordinary Profession, as well as people who wanted to strengthen their bodies.

An M-level serum could enhance the human body from an ordinary state to the threshold of First Rank. That was its limit.

To further develop one's physical abilities, one had to use the methods of Extraordinary Professions such as Martial Artists and Knights.

"My body is already at First Rank. Crimson Crystals and an M-level serum will have almost no effect on my current condition."

"This batch of M-level serum contains nearly five times as many Spiritual Energy Particles as it would in the Cyber World."

"With Psychic Vision monitoring the effects, I can experiment safely."

Wizards might resist having cybernetic implants, but they had no objection to taking drugs.

Lin Qi raised a test tube and drank the serum.

Xia Chu cried out in alarm. "Lin Qi, don't use yourself as a test subject!"
