Dai Mubai is proud, impulsive, and highly conscious of his status as a powerful Shrek student. He is quick to take offense, reacts aggressively to provocation, and struggles to restrain his temper when challenged by Zhu Zhuqing or Ning Rongrong. 103 104 112

He is also openly lustful and manipulative despite repeatedly attempting to portray himself as upright before Zhu Zhuqing. His conduct toward Tang San—including exploiting her intoxication, branding her, and later participating in her robbery—severely damages his reputation with both Tang San and Zhu Zhuqing. 57 60 63 104

Despite these traits, Dai Mubai is protective of his teammates. He leads the group cautiously into the Star Dou Great Forest, supports Ma Hongjun after his defeat by Bu Le, and shields Zhu Zhuqing during the battle against the Royal Combat Team. 110 142 165

Dai Mubai first encounters Tang San at the Rose Hotel, where he immediately becomes attracted to her and tries to befriend her. He later takes her to the Suotuo Grand Theater, where she enjoys herself enough to make Liu Ruyan question why the expected plot had changed. 50 52

He subsequently exploits Tang San after she becomes intoxicated, leaves the phrases “Quality Inspection Passed” and “Mubai’s Treasure” on her, and later joins Oscar and Ma Hongjun in robbing her. These actions cause Zhu Zhuqing’s opinion of him to deteriorate sharply before they formally meet. 57 60 63

Shrek Academy Entrance

When Tang San, Zhu Zhuqing, Ye Ying, and Xiao Wu arrive at Shrek Academy, Dai Mubai is visibly distressed by Tang San and Zhu Zhuqing appearing together. His altered behavior leads him to publicly sing and dance while confronting prospective students who criticize the academy, humiliating himself in front of the entrance line. 67 68

As the academy’s fourth-assessment opponent, Dai Mubai faces Ye Ying. Although Dai Mubai uses White Tiger Martial Soul Possession and White Tiger Light Wave, Ye Ying defeats him with a single Milk Tea Torrent. 73 74
