When Tang San returned, Ye Qiu was meditating cross-legged on the bed.
Xiao Wu sat quietly by her own bed, still holding a candy given by Ye Qiu, her eyes narrowed as she licked it slowly, savoring it. She seemed to be in a good mood, though her eyes were still slightly red.
Tang San immediately understood what had happened during his absence, and a wry smile appeared on his face: "Xiao Wu, did you fight with Ye Qiu again?"
Xiao Wu pouted, glared at Ye Qiu, and said tenderly, "Hmph! It's all his fault, he always bullies me."
"You usually started it yourself, didn't you?" Ye Qiu opened his eyes and glanced at Xiao Wu dismissively.
"If you hadn't made me angry first, why would I have started it?" Xiao Wu gritted her silver teeth fiercely.
Tang San covered his forehead. He couldn't quite figure out their conflicts, but after spending more time with them, whenever Ye Qiu hit Xiao Wu, he felt a strange sensation, as if his own head was getting heavier.
"Ye Qiu, you should find another place to fight in the future. Xiao Wu is a girl, after all."
Xiao Wu nodded vigorously beside him.
"Hitting softer spots hurts less. Otherwise, this little rabbit will cry her eyes out," Ye Qiu spread his hands, indicating it was a difficult situation.
Tang San had said similar things to Ye Qiu more than once.
Ye Qiu even suspected that Tang San had used their sparring sessions as an excuse to confront him, all because Xiao Wu had been beaten by him.
And Tang San was a bit strange.
When Ye Qiu fought Tang San, even without Tang San using hidden weapons, Ye Qiu knew Tang San was much stronger than Xiao Wu. Yet, when Tang San fought Xiao Wu, he lost more than he won. What's more, sometimes, he would seek Ye Qiu out for a fight without even catching his breath after fighting Xiao Wu.
Ye Qiu knew the full extent of the little rabbit's strength. As for who was having the problem, the answer was obvious.
Tang San sighed helplessly, having long expected Ye Qiu's answer. However, he still managed a smile and teased, "Then you have to go easy on her. If you hurt Xiao Wu, you'll have to carry her tomorrow."
"Don't worry, I know my limits."
Ye Qiu smiled. He hadn't used his full strength, and he always healed the silly rabbit afterward.
"Hmm?"
Xiao Wu was stunned when she heard Tang San's words. Then her face flushed, her eyes lit up, and immediately dimmed again.
If only Ye Qiu didn't have healing abilities, she thought. Then I could make him carry me for a long, long way. That way, I could stick close to Ye Qiu— no! I'd be properly punishing Ye Qiu!
"Alright, Xiao Wu, let's go eat."
Ye Qiu got up and called out to Xiao Wu. After a long moment, he saw no reaction from her. He turned back to look at Xiao Wu, who was lowering her head, savoring her candy, and remaining indifferent. Ye Qiu couldn't help but call out a few more times.
"Xiao Wu. Xiao Wu?!"
"Silly rabbit!"
"Ah? Huh? Ye Qiu, what did you say?"
After Ye Qiu raised his voice, Xiao Wu finally looked up, somewhat dazed. She didn't even notice Ye Qiu calling her a silly rabbit.
Tang San also looked at Xiao Wu with some surprise.
"Silly rabbit, what are you thinking about?" Ye Qiu stared at Xiao Wu, puzzled.
"I, I wasn't thinking about anything,"
Xiao Wu's face quickly turned red. She replied softly, turning her head away from Ye Qiu, her gaze evasive and a little guilty.
"It's getting late, time to eat. By the way, why is your face suddenly so red?" Ye Qiu raised an eyebrow, stepped forward, cupped Xiao Wu's face, and examined it closely.
"Ah! Get away from me! I'm fine, I'm just a little hot and feeling unwell," Xiao Wu shook her head like a rattle, her small face flushed. She even reached out to push Ye Qiu away.
She simply covered her head with the quilt, not wanting to see Ye Qiu. She mumbled, "You go eat by yourself, I'm not going."
"Feeling unwell? That shouldn't be the case."
Ye Qiu frowned. He had only hit Xiao Wu's backside a few times, and he had healed her entire body afterward.
"Haha. You must have hit her too hard, and now she can't walk comfortably," Tang San suddenly burst into laughter, though his laughter seemed to hide a bitterness he himself couldn't detect.
"Alright."
Ye Qiu looked at Tang San speechlessly, shrugged, and didn't force Xiao Wu any further. He gently patted the quilt and asked, "Do you want me to bring you something to eat back?"
"Okay, Sister Xiao Wu wants a long, straight, fresh carrot."
Xiao Wu poked her head out from under the quilt, her small face already flushed red. Her eyes still darted away from Ye Qiu.
"Mhm, then you rest well," Ye Qiu replied softly and put another lollipop into Xiao Wu's mouth.
"Mmmph~ Thank you."
Xiao Wu, with the lollipop in her mouth, looked at Ye Qiu and thanked him softly.
"Xiao San, want to go eat together?"
As Ye Qiu walked to the door, he seemed to just remember Tang San and turned to ask.
"No need, you go by yourself. I've already eaten with the teacher."
"Okay."
Ye Qiu waved his hand and headed towards the Notting Academy cafeteria.
The candy in Xiao Wu's mouth was sweet.
She patted her behind, blushing, and wiggled on the bed like a caterpillar.
Ye Qiu sometimes took good care of her. Although most of the trouble he caused was self-inflicted, she had indeed started it every time.
Xiao Wu also knew very well that she couldn't beat Ye Qiu. Every time she pounced on him with bared teeth and claws, she would get a good beating from Ye Qiu. But she just couldn't help it. Who told Ye Qiu to be so annoying! He didn't know how to go easy on her!
The next morning.
Tang San, Ye Qiu, and Xiao Wu walked out of the gates of Notting Academy.
Xiao Wu skipped along beside Ye Qiu, her small hand tugging at the crossbody bag slung at Ye Qiu's waist. A smile played on her lips, and she bumped into Ye Qiu from time to time.
Seeing Ye Qiu roll his eyes, she just smiled sweetly and then wisely toned down her smiles considerably. She didn't want to anger Ye Qiu, or she'd get spanked on the road, which would be very embarrassing.
Tang San also stood beside Ye Qiu, his eyes occasionally glancing at Xiao Wu, who was bouncing around and laughing. She was just too innocent and lively.
After Xiao Wu had been skipping for an hour, under the scorching sun, the little rabbit could no longer skip. Fine beads of sweat broke out on her forehead.
Habitually, she hugged Ye Qiu's arm, leaning against Ye Qiu's side, and said weakly, "Ye Qiu, how much further? Xiao Wu is tired."
"Who told you to skip around the whole way? Just hold on a bit longer," Ye Qiu said, rolling his eyes helplessly. He was also a bit tired from being pulled by this silly rabbit.
Xiao Wu raised her hand to block the sunlight from her eyes, letting out a small wail. "Ah, the sun is so hot! Ye Qiu, doesn't your Martial Soul transform? Can you change it into an umbrella so Xiao Wu can hide from the sun?"
Wishing you all a pleasant life!
