Tang San calmly glanced at Ye Qiu's retreating figure.
Then he looked back at Yu Xiaogang.
"If you're not a teacher at the academy, what should I call you, then?"
"Everyone calls me Grandmaster. I've long since forgotten my original name."
At that, Yu Xiaogang paused, his gaze burning as he looked at Tang San.
The truth was out!
"If you really want to call me teacher, I wouldn't be opposed."
Tang San met Yu Xiaogang's gaze calmly, showing no reaction.
He knew perfectly well what was going on, but pretended not to. He wasn't about to act until he saw a real benefit.
He was quite good at that.
Yu Xiaogang gave an awkward smile and nodded, stroking the stubble on his chin as he sized Tang San up.
He always had something astonishing to say.
"Besides your Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul, what's your other Martial Soul?"
"!!"
Tang San's pupils contracted sharply. He was shocked.
Beneath his clothes, the safety on the Sleeve Arrow strapped to his left wrist clicked open again.
Friend or foe?!
A cold glint slowly surfaced in the depths of Tang San's eyes.
He had already decided to kill, yet his expression remained unchanged as he probed, "How did you know?"
Grandmaster Yu had no idea that his name had already begun flickering in the Book of the Dead.
He remained completely unruffled.
He gave Tang San a stiff smile, doing his best to seem friendly, gentle, and approachable.
He raised the Martial Soul certificate in his hand.
Then he launched into a lengthy explanation. He'd once gone to the countryside, worked up a sweat, and investigated hundreds of Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul owners. He'd devoted himself to studying Martial Souls and proposed the Ten Core Competencies of Martial Soul. No one understood Soul Master cultivation better than he did!
He was universally recognized as the foremost theorist in the Soul Master World!
Yu Xiaogang gave a long introduction, then cited one source after another, speaking with such conviction that he stated his conclusion almost as if it were beyond doubt!
"So I can say with certainty that you must possess another, immensely powerful Martial Soul. You're the third person in history to have Twin Martial Souls!"
Tang San's mind reeled, and the killing intent in his heart crumbled.
To infer so much from the Martial Soul certificate alone—Grandmaster truly deserved his reputation as the greatest theorist in the world!
But one final doubt remained in Tang San's mind.
He held out his right hand. A small blue grass waved in his palm as he looked up at Yu Xiaogang and asked, "Grandmaster, everyone says my Blue Silver Grass is a Trash Martial Soul. But can a Trash Martial Soul really be cultivated?"
"Heh."
Yu Xiaogang shook his head with a chuckle, clasped his hands behind his back, and straightened up, gazing at the sky at a forty-five-degree angle.
"Always remember this."
"There are no useless Martial Souls, only useless Soul Masters!"
At those words, Tang San smiled, and so did MacArthur.
This man was worthy of being his teacher!
Tang San secured the Silent Sleeve Arrow and took several steps back, putting some distance between himself and Yu Xiaogang.
Then, with a thump, he dropped to both knees.
Thud! Thud! Thud! He bowed his head three times before Yu Xiaogang.
As Ye Qiu returned, he thought he heard Tang San shout—
"Dad—!"
If you don't mind, I, San, would be honored to call you my adoptive father!
Yu Xiaogang froze.
"What are you doing? Kneeling is a gesture of respect reserved for kings and parents."
"Once a teacher, a father for life! Please accept this bow, teacher."
Thump!
Tang San struck the ground with another forceful bow, leaving his forehead red.
"Good, good!"
"Once a teacher, a father for life! Well said!"
Overjoyed, Yu Xiaogang hurriedly bent down and helped up the new son he'd just conned into the family.
"Little San, what's going on?"
Ye Qiu walked over slowly, feigning surprise as he looked at Tang San.
"Ye Qiu?"
Tang San glanced back at Ye Qiu, his eyes flickering slightly. He didn't explain, but asked, "When did you get back?"
"Huh?!"
Ye Qiu paused, a chill rising in his heart. He helplessly raised his still-wet hand.
"Just now, of course. I was wondering why you'd suddenly dropped to your knees. You're not going to abandon Uncle Haozi, are you?"
Tang San furrowed his brows, unwilling to entertain Ye Qiu's nonsense. He raised a hand and introduced him. "This is the teacher I just took."
"The teacher you just took?"
Ye Qiu looked at Yu Xiaogang, a little bewildered.
But a chill stirred in his heart.
Ever since he'd gained the spider's perception three months ago, he'd acquired two abilities.
One of them was an extraordinary sense of perception.
Tang San's killing intent had been faint.
But it hadn't escaped him.
That Little Scumbag was far too wary. Ye Qiu had already given him plenty of space.
Heh.
Ungrateful bastard!
Was this how Tang Hao had told him to look after Ye Qiu? By pointing a Silent Sleeve Arrow at him?
Yu Xiaogang met Ye Qiu's gaze.
Seeing those clear eyes, his thoughts began turning once more.
"According to your Martial Soul certificate, your name is Ye Qiu, right?"
"Yes."
Ye Qiu nodded.
Yu Xiaogang wore another inscrutable smile and said meaningfully, "Do you really think your Martial Soul is a Trash Martial Soul?"
"Hm?"
Ye Qiu raised an eyebrow and gave him a puzzled look without replying.
At that moment, Tang San suddenly understood.
He had Twin Martial Souls and the Mysterious Heaven Skill, but what about Ye Qiu? Why did he have Innate Full Soul Power?
Yu Xiaogang had already considered this.
According to his theories, he could deduce that Tang San had Twin Martial Souls because he was certain Tang San's Martial Soul hadn't mutated. It really was the most ordinary Blue Silver Grass.
But Ye Qiu's Martial Soul was something he'd never seen before.
Though it did look like a Trash Martial Soul, he didn't believe he'd be so lucky as to meet two Twin Martial Soul geniuses at once. Once every unlikely possibility had been ruled out, only one truth remained!
Yu Xiaogang was brimming with confidence as he declared, "Ye Qiu, I've never seen your Martial Soul before. But I can say for certain that it's a Mutated Martial Soul. Otherwise, with your commoner background, you'd never have awakened with Innate Full Soul Power!"
"A Mutated Martial Soul?!"
Ye Qiu widened his eyes, putting on a look of surprise, while inwardly rolling his eyes.
Tang San also understood.
So Ye Qiu's Martial Soul was a Mutated Martial Soul.
His teacher truly lived up to his reputation as the foremost theorist!
Yu Xiaogang was quite pleased with their expressions.
Few in the Soul Master World listened to him speak at length and reacted like this. They all thought he was a fraud. But that only made him more determined to teach powerful students and prove himself!
"Ye Qiu, I'm especially skilled in the study of Martial Souls, particularly Mutated Martial Souls. You've only just arrived, and you barely understand Martial Souls. Having a good teacher and friend on the path of cultivation can only help you. So, would you be willing to become my student?"
Yu Xiaogang struck the pose of an expert, calmly watching the astonished Ye Qiu as he waited for an answer.
Ye Qiu might not be as gifted as Tang San.
But he was still a genius with Innate Full Soul Power. He could serve as a test case and help Yu Xiaogang gain teaching experience, while keeping the more talented Tang San from taking too many wrong turns. He could help Yu Xiaogang raise an even more outstanding student!
That was why Yu Xiaogang had gone to such lengths: he simply wanted another adopted son who might prove useful.
Tang San also turned to look at Ye Qiu.
He didn't quite understand why Tang Hao had told him to look after Ye Qiu, but if they became fellow disciples, it would make perfect sense.
"I think I'll pass. Little San already became your student first, and I don't want to be the junior one. Unless Little San is willing to take the junior position instead."
Ye Qiu shook his head helplessly.
"Good teacher and friend"—what a flattering way to describe the pair of you.
Tang San's brows knitted together.
He'd never liked Ye Qiu, who was younger than him, calling him Little San. Of course he wasn't willing to become his junior just for Ye Qiu's sake.
Yu Xiaogang frowned.
He'd talked so much and still hadn't landed another adopted son. It was a pity, but his pride as a grandmaster wouldn't let him insist.
He was giving Ye Qiu an opportunity, not begging him.
"Very well. In the Soul Master World, a person can only have one teacher in their lifetime. You really should give something like this careful thought!"
His words had a double meaning.
He seemed to be speaking to Ye Qiu, but he was really telling Tang San:
Even if I'm only a Soul Grandmaster, you've already bowed to me and become my adopted son!
You won't be getting rid of me now!
"Enough. Come with me. I'll take you to register."
Yu Xiaogang put the matter aside and stopped dwelling on it. He was already quite satisfied with Tang San, who had Twin Martial Souls.
Ye Qiu and Tang San followed Yu Xiaogang to the registration office. They received their uniforms, then parted ways with Yu Xiaogang and headed together toward their dormitory.
That was where everything began... Dorm Seven!
Wishing everyone a pleasant life!
