"Cultivation is not defying Heaven, but following its will: comprehending the principles of Heaven and Earth, and understanding the essence of oneself..."
After hearing just a couple of sentences, Fuxi already found it rather dull.
It was too shallow.
These were all the most basic principles of the Dao Method. Even the Attendant who guarded the gates of Phoenix Mountain knew them.
He was just about to tell Nüwa they might as well go straight to see Xuanqing instead of wasting their time here.
But just then, Xuanqing changed course.
"All things possess a spirit, and each is a spark of life. Every blade of grass and every tree, every stone and every handful of earth, contains the subtle workings of creation..."
"What is creation? Bringing something forth from nothing—that is creation. Turning stone into gold—that is creation. Bestowing spirit upon inert stone, and life upon withered wood—that, too, is creation..."
What Xuanqing was discussing were the insights he had gained throughout his journey: from his time as Purifying Mystic Bamboo, when he was ignorant and unaware, to the birth of his intelligence, and finally his transformation into human form.
Interwoven with those insights was his understanding of the power of merit.
To other cultivators, these reflections might have seemed like nothing more than ordinary principles.
But to Nüwa, they struck like a bolt of thunder!
"Boom!"
Nüwa felt her mind shudder. It was as if a long-sealed door had been forced open a crack by some outside force!
Creation!
The Great Dao she cultivated was the Great Dao of Creation!
Yet all this time, she had focused on creation at a higher level. Still, she had never managed to glimpse its threshold.
Now she realized she had overlooked the most fundamental principles of creation.
