The skeleton's jaw dropped, its mouth opening as if it wanted to say something.
But just then, the shovel was raised and brought down, smashing the skull to pieces.
A commotion stirred all around them.
The camera tilted up, capturing the surrounding cemetery. The ground was writhing, as if something were about to claw its way out.
The rustling continued.
The camera turned toward the grave in front of them. A hand bone reached out of the earth, scraping at the dirt. Then came grass, and more bones began pushing up from the ground.
The camera turned again.
This time, right beside Greenleaf and the others, bones emerged from the grave "neighboring" the one they had just seen. A skull burst through the ground.
Ye Qing swung the shovel. Without seeming to put in much effort, he smashed the skull.
With a thud, the shovel plunged into the pit, followed by a string of dull impacts. One blow seemed to crush all the bones in the skeleton's body.
After that, the commotion in the surrounding earth stopped.
The camera turned back to the skeleton from before.
It seemed to panic and tried to run away.
Ye Qing calmly stepped into view, blocking the skeleton with his shovel.
"Let's talk. You can understand me, right? All of you can understand me, and speak my language too, right?" Ye Qing asked, his tone certain.
The skeleton trembled, its bones clacking together.
Ye Qing raised the shovel.
The skeleton's jaw moved up and down, and a sound came out.
The voice was eerie. It didn't sound human, but it managed to imitate speech.
"I know. I can understand, and I can speak!"
There was a hint of urgency in its words.
The shovel was thrust into the ground.
"Go on," Ye Qing said.
