After the video opened, the first thing to appear on the bright screen was a detached villa. It was a two-story house with no sense of design, like a little building in a farmhouse courtyard.

The camera moved closer to the villa's front gate and rang the doorbell.

A short while later, static crackled from the intercom.

"Hello, I'm Wu Ling. I called you this morning," Wu Ling's voice said.

"Oh, yes. Come on in. The gate's open," a middle-aged woman replied.

The gate lock clunked loudly.

A man's hand reached into the frame and pushed the gate open. Wu Ling walked past the camera and went inside.

The gate opened and closed with heavy sounds.

Inside the walled courtyard was a lush little garden. Pots of plants were arranged in the open space, from thriving succulents to leafy little trees and flowers.

Someone pulled open the front door from inside. The plainly dressed middle-aged woman saw the camera and looked startled and uneasy for a moment, but quickly composed herself and gestured for them to come in.

The interior was more thoughtfully designed than the outside walls. Overall, it had a simple style and felt very lived-in.

The woman invited the Greenleaf people to sit down and poured two cups of tea. Then she dragged over a chair and sat across from them.

"I'm sorry. Some of our companions can't go out, so we had to do it this way," Wu Ling explained.

"That's all right." The woman waved her hand, looking flustered, but quickly calmed down. "I heard about you from A-Ming... I know who you are. Greenleaf, right?"
