My younger sister came home from school and noticed I was distracted after only a couple of words.

"What's wrong, bro? Did you get dumped?" She blinked at me.

"I'm not seeing anyone, so how could I get dumped?" I tried to perk up a little. "How's school going?"

"Huh? It's all right, I guess..." She rested her chin in her hand and sighed. "There's not much to do at college... I feel like..."

"You haven't joined any clubs? Aren't there any professors you really like?" I asked.

"There's one professor who's pretty interesting..." she said. "As for clubs, I joined the student union, but I'm just doing odd jobs. It's boring every time. The upperclassmen, and the students in my year... Um... how do I put it? We just don't get along."

My sister looked troubled.

I asked, "What about your roommates and classmates?"

"We've had two class get-togethers already, and not everyone showed up the last time. The class president picked the restaurant, and it was really... hard to describe. Our dorm has gone out to eat together a few times. Oh, there are so many delicious places near Minqing University!" She perked up, her cheeks turning rosy.

I glanced at her stomach.

Even though she was wearing loose pajamas, I could still tell she'd put on a little weight.

"What are you staring at?" My sister glared at me and ran back to her room.

I laughed and picked up the fruit Mom had cut and left on the table. "You're not eating your fruit?"

She took the plate from me and ran back to her room.

After lunch, my parents went out for a walk to help their food
