The sea breeze swept against my face, carrying the salty, fishy smell of the ocean.
I had never been out to sea before. Even when I traveled, I mostly stayed inland. I had been to beaches, but all I'd seen were crowds of tourists, their silhouettes covering the horizon.
Now, watching the waves rise and fall and the distant horizon glimmer in the sunlight, I suddenly felt a strange sense of vastness.
The feeling didn't last long.
Spray struck the side of the boat, and the boat rocked.
I started to feel seasick, and the smell carried on the sea breeze made me nauseous.
I waved to Wu Ling and stumbled into the cabin.
Several people were lying or leaning inside the cabin. They were all TV station staff, and every one of them looked deathly pale.
I let out a breath, found an empty spot, and sat down with my back against the cabin wall. The dizziness still wouldn't go away.
Compared with the side effects of my ability, the nausea from seasickness was much milder. But that was exactly why I stayed clearheaded, making the passage of time feel especially long.
Every so often, someone in the cabin let out a miserable groan. I could also hear people vomiting outside.
Now and then, I heard someone talking, but their words were too muffled to make out, drowned out by the crashing waves.
Wu Ling and Liu Miao didn't seem to be suffering as badly from seasickness.
Maybe it was because of their physical constitutions.
There was no need to explain Wu Ling's constitution. She might not even count as human.
Liu Miao looked strong and healthy... though seasickness had little to do with that sort of thing.
I drifted off for a while, or so I thought, but
