The change caught me completely off guard.
There had been no warning, no time to prepare. I had entered the dream just like that, following Ghost's Words as a child and watching her mother being cremated.
I couldn't spare a thought for Ghost's Words right now. My mind was on Ye Qing.
This wasn't the first time I'd suddenly entered a dream. In fact, only a short while ago—just over ten hours ago—I'd experienced something similar. The difference was that back then, Ye Qing had pushed me out of the dream before I could see what happened to Ghost's Words and Qi Bai. Now, I'd suddenly entered another dream...
When I thought about the side-effect hallucination that had suddenly ended, my mood soured. A shadow fell over my heart.
Ye Qing could control my ability.
What was he trying to do? Kill me to silence me? Refuse to communicate? Or was he trying to tell me something this way, like Wang Yan had?
I forced myself to calm down and wait to see what would happen.
The change came quickly.
The scene around me shifted. Ghost's Words left the crematorium and sat down in a room.
Judging by the furniture and decor, it wasn't a room designed specifically for children. It was full of things boys liked: posters of basketball stars, a game console and controllers, and game discs featuring scantily clad female characters. But the room wasn't entirely masculine, either. A pink suitcase sat beside the wardrobe, and cardboard boxes printed with pictures of cookware and microwaves were piled on top of it. Two flimsy plastic storage bins sat in the room, covered with childish cartoon stickers.
An argument came from outside.
"...We've already got two. You make it sound so easy to take in another one! Your sister
