My heart skipped a beat. I turned to look at the girl.
The girl's eyes widened as she stared toward the bedroom door, but she didn't move.
As Kalan turned back to close the door, he said to the girl, "I'll help you sort your things out when I get back."
"I can do it myself." The girl looked a little disappointed as she watched Kalan close the door. His footsteps soon faded away.
She wasn't following him, so there was no way I could follow him either!
The teddy bear!
Those teddy bears of Lv Qiaolan's!
That meant the dream was set at the time when Lv Qiaolan's teddy bears had been sent overseas to their original manufacturer for repairs.
I was worried about the teddy bears, and the girl was thinking about them too. But the thoughts in her mind had nothing in common with mine.
She was thinking about the word "alive."
The girl looked down at the puppet.
"Bony, can you come to life too?" the girl asked the puppet, talking to herself.
The bedroom scene was falling apart. In its place appeared a hallway, with doors lining both sides. Each door bore a number, all beginning with zero and continuing in sequence.
The girl walked carefully down the hallway, counting the numbers on the doors. She still had the puppet in her arms.
There was nothing scary about the scene, yet the girl was extremely tense, as if she were walking down a hallway where a monster might appear at any moment. She was ready to run at any time.
"089!" The girl stared at one of the doors and suddenly cried out in delight.
She had found out where the teddy bear was being kept: Room 089.
Each room here contained something sealed away.
