The puppet's movement was noticed by the girl at once.
She stared blankly at the puppet in her arms and asked hesitantly, "Bony?"
The puppet turned its head, jumped out of the girl's arms, and stood right in front of her.
The girl's eyes widened. She called out "Bony" again, this time with delight in her voice.
The puppet took a couple of steps toward her and held out its hand.
The girl took its hand and lifted it up, spinning around happily. She laughed heartily, calling "Bony," "Bony" over and over. Her joy was plain to see.
Her cheerful cries were interrupted by a knock at the door.
The girl stopped jumping and spinning, hugged the puppet to her chest, and threw herself against the door. "Mr. Bear! Did you make Bony come to life? Thank you, Mr. Bear! Oh my gosh! Thank you!"
Knock, knock.
"Oh, uh... I... How can I help you? I can't get the key..." the girl said dejectedly.
The puppet jumped out of her arms and stood by the door, tapping the panel with its stick hand.
The girl tilted her head in confusion. "Do you want to... break down this door? But..."
She pressed both hands against the door and pushed with all her might, but couldn't budge it. She tried punching and kicking it, but only hurt her hands and feet.
The girl gave the puppet a pitiful look.
The puppet shook its head at her and knocked on the door again. It raised its other stick hand, as if trying to gesture something.
The puppet was built much like the toy bear. Its limbs were all sticks, so it couldn't make complicated movements. Its expression was fixed, too; all it could do was face the girl with its crooked face.
