Guo Yujie's voice sounded in my ears, while also echoing through my mind.
I jumped in surprise. When I looked beside me again, Han Yun was already sitting on Guo Yujie.
"What's going on?" Wu Ling turned around and asked sternly.
"The rules of hide-and-seek. Whoever gets found becomes the hider in the next round," Han Yun said.
Those rules were a little different from the hide-and-seek I knew. Normally, one person searched while several others hid. Of course, there was another version, where one person was blindfolded and tried to catch their companions as they ran around. Whoever got caught became the one who had to catch someone in the next round. You could even add rules, like requiring the catcher to correctly identify the person they caught.
Han Yun's version of hide-and-seek had some strange rules, but given the scale of the game and the number of participants, his rules suited it better than the original. A town full of ghosts searching for one hidden ghost was more "interesting" than one ghost searching a town full of ghosts. A vast game space like that wasn't suited to blindfolded hide-and-seek, either.
"Miss Guo is now..." Wu Ling frowned deeply.
"Don't worry. They don't know. By force of habit, they'll assume she's hiding somewhere in town. Besides, there's no more haunting as punishment this time." Han Yun crossed his legs and bounced his foot, looking smug. "Give them some time, and they'll get used to their new identities. If someone doesn't want to keep living the way they used to, they can leave that area. Then, if they're alone, who knows what might happen to them? And she won't be easy to find."
"What if they never find her?" Wu Ling asked.
"Then the game won't end," Han Yun replied.
