It was already dark then, and I hadn't paid attention to the street names. But I remembered the general area, so finding it now would just take a little time.

My sister and I walked along the neighborhood wall for a while until we found a small gate we could enter through.

There were some middle-aged women and older men inside the neighborhood, but no young people. Most of them were heading out to buy things. They passed us without paying us any attention.

I looked at them. Their expressions were calm, and it seemed nothing strange had happened in the neighborhood.

My sister looked around, then tugged on my sleeve and asked, "What are you looking for?"

"Mm. A substation." I kept searching as I spoke.

"There's a sign over there." My sister pointed in one direction and called out to me.

Before we knew it, we'd reached the neighborhood's main entrance. There was a map by the entrance, as well as a security guard.

My sister hurried over, looked up at it for a moment, then turned and shook her head at me.

The map didn't show the location of the substation. It only marked where the apartment buildings were.

My sister started walking back, but I went over to take another look.

"It doesn't say where the substation is."

"Mm. But the substation is pretty big. There's an empty lot here." I pointed to a blank space on the map.

There was an empty lot between Buildings 21 and 23.

My sister suddenly understood.

My guess had been right. The substation was on that empty lot.

As I looked at the building I'd seen just a few nights ago, I couldn't help slowing my pace.
