October 19, 2006. Contacted Zhang Dongliang and went to the house. Video file: 03820061019.avi.
The video began with two doors.
A lock hung on the iron gate. A pair of hands reached up from the bottom of the frame and opened it.
The iron gate's bolt slid back with a loud clatter. As the gate swung open, it scraped with a teeth-grating sound.
Beyond the iron gate was a security door.
A key went into the lock and turned three times. The same heavy unlocking sound rang out three times before the door unlocked.
The hinges on this door also made a sound that seemed to echo through the room.
The door opened onto a cramped entryway that felt oppressive.
A shoe rack stood beside the door, with shoeboxes piled on top. Inside were only two pairs of dusty men's slippers.
The floor was wooden, with a red plastic mat printed with the words "Safe Travels." It was covered in dust and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in a long time.
Past the entryway, the view opened up after a turn.
Two bedrooms were on the left, while the kitchen, bathroom, and dining room were on the right.
Straight ahead were the living room and balcony, and the interior was very bright.
Footsteps sounded in the video.
The camera moved, filming every room.
There was nothing unusual inside, but the rooms felt unoccupied and seemed to carry a musty smell. They also brought to mind the contents of those voyeuristic recordings.
"There's no ghostly energy. No ghost has stayed here for long," Greenleaf's voice came from offscreen.
The camera moved toward a cabinet.
It was an old wooden cabinet that had lost its luster, with somewhat childish cartoon stickers on the glass. It was stuffed with assorted clutter.
