The commotion in the other room continued, and seemed to be getting louder. The tipsy Fatty tried to sling an arm around Jiang Cheng's shoulders, but Jiang Cheng rejected him with disgust, saying he didn't want Fatty throwing up on him. Fatty settled for trying to put an arm around Wu instead, but Wu sidestepped him without a word, for much the same reason as Jiang Cheng.
Everyone chattered and bickered, seemingly forgetting for the moment the predicament and enemies they would soon face. After tossing aside who knew how many beer cans, they started talking about life and their dreams.
Fatty leaned back in his chair, eyes narrowed in contentment. In his ideal vision of the future, once everything had settled down, Jiang Cheng would surely get himself an official position as a great hero.
Jiang Cheng raised his beer can and slurred that if he became an official, he'd make sure Fatty got a job too. He couldn't forget his brother when there was a good opportunity.
Fatty waved both hands, saying he wasn't cut out for government work. He wasn't the scheming sort. But if Jiang Cheng gave him the money to open a restaurant, that would be no problem. He liked cooking; it was his old trade.
