When Jiang Cheng arrived, the fat man, who had only just woken up, greeted him enthusiastically. Jiang Cheng ignored him completely, walked over, and pushed open the door.
The mess he'd expected—or a scene of blood and gore—was nowhere to be seen. The room was... well... surprisingly peaceful.
Su Xiaoxiao was half sitting up, propped against the pillows behind her. She held a pear with a bite taken out of it, while Chen Ran sat on a chair beside her bed. The morning sunlight streamed in through the window, making the scene almost picturesque.
Three seconds later, Jiang Cheng slammed the door shut. Back in the hallway, he shook his head vigorously, then slapped himself several times. Only after making sure he was awake did he push the door open again.
It was exactly the same: morning light, pristine white sheets, a half-eaten pear, and a couple sharing a warm, peaceful moment. Jiang Cheng completely lost it.
"Doctor, it's real," the fat man reassured him in a low voice. "They've been having a great chat. They even thought I was in the way and sent Brother Su An outside. Look how aggrieved he is."
Maybe the fat man's words had gotten to him, because Su An looked even more aggrieved. A two-and-a-half-meter-tall hunk looking that pitiful—Jiang Cheng had seen quite enough!
To Jiang Cheng's utter disbelief, Chen Ran stood up and smiled, nodding at him. "Zero, long time no see. Thanks for all your effort."
